i watched wallander last night bbc1 9pm....i could only watch the first few minutes . was so shocked to see the opening start with a man encouraging the geese, ducks etc to feed while pouring petrol around their feet then setting them alight....how wicked...there are enough sick people in this world without giving them ideas.....also it was the beginning of school holidays most kids are still up .......and to see this would have been horrible...it even showed you the birds alight screaming then flying away....i know the birds were not harmed in any way ...but really is this necessary.....it just really played onmy mind...

Didn't see it - thankfully ........... and couldn't agree more - absolutely, totally unnecessary!!! Vile ...... had I seen it I would have complained to whichever channel feels it was appropriate to show it.
these things happen in real life, should you be allowing a young child to be watching something like this whether its school holidays or not, the guys a murder detective that kind of gives it away that it might not be suitable for young kids
If you had watched more than the first couple of minutes, you'd have seen the context that that particular scene was set in.....

Bad things happen to animals and humans in these sorts of programmes, it's par for the course........

thankyou echokilo, that is what i am going to do...i was just wondering if i am over reacting...but it really played on my mind, and i am not usually a person to start complaining i just turn over channels like i did last night but i could not forget it, hence my post lol.....thanks again
I don't think you are overreacting at all. Didn't see it and glad I didn't. No need for it in my opinion.

yes danchip i know what you mean no i would not let kids see this kind of program but if they were around they would hav heard the sounds and ask ..i just thought it was un called for......we see so many ill treated animals in the RSPCA programs..so i dont see that this needed to be shown just maybe acted out differently
I missed the very begining so didn't see it. I know it was related to the story, but not very nice.
T and T .... I think they are ways this kind of behaviour could be implied if so essential to the plot - no need for graphic scenes of this kind of attack at all ............ and I also know we all have the ability to switch off if offended - but this is about giving people violent ideas - and you are quite right - enough nutters out there without helping them increase their repertoire!
Agree 100% echo .....
I can`t help wondering if HM was watching her swans being roasted, and what she would have done. Don`t get upset by what you see on the box.
It was horrible, but it became clear that it was relevant to the plot. Some programmes are meant to be shocking - strange that the woman being killed by being stunned then burned alive in the same pyre doesn't excite comment, only the burning of the swans....

boxtop i did not see the woman get burned i turned over as saw as i saw the birds..to be truthful i do understands there are dead bodies horrible deaths in these programs i just think in this day and age just seeing the bodies then the detective....doctor or who ever explain what has happened, like they do in frost..lewis etc....the part that worried me was how these things can be shown on tv and watched by the wrong kind of people
