I know Sunday is crossword answers day but I need some help.

My waist measurement is 34inches, my hip measurement is 40 inches. My waist is catching up with my hips. I will be sixty in three weeks time and I don't want to be a little, round, elderly lady.

I have started walking again trying to do 10,000 steps per day and usually manage that but I do need to target my waist. I can't do crunches, sit ups etc because of my crunchy neck.

Any ideas please.

You do know that Tony will be wanting to know the dimensions of the upstairs section.

Keep plodding away, set a routine for walking, keep a diary of everything you eat.
The Onwards and Downwards thread is very good. Loads of ideas and support.
You can't really target where you lose weight from.
"I know Sunday is crossword answers day but I need ..."

So what?
I am 62 and have been on a mission for about 6 weeks. I have gone from nothing to 5k run in that time. I feel so much better. I wasn't too much overweight but I can see my body changing for the better. My waist has always been almost the same as my hips (small hips, big waist!)
It takes time but is achievable.
Keep going, well done.
If you have any weight to lose, follow WW or Slimming World and take up yoga to strength and tone your core muscles.

The upstairs section will be my little secret.
Thank you both. I've looked at the onwards downwards thread but I'm not interested in diets. My weight has been stable for the last three years. I have just allowed myself to become floppy.

Tenrec, how did you start running? Did you walk and run a bit, that kind of thing? To be able to run 5k in six weeks is amazing. Well done to you.
Tilly. I`ve decided to buy a hula hoop to target my waist. Or put my back out.... one or the other.
Question Author
Can you do hula hooping the, Gness? Last time I tried, I was hopeless.
Tilly2 - therre`s a podcast you can get via NHS Choices called Couch to 5K if you`re thinking of running.
Well I could when I was twelve Tilly so I am hoping it`s like riding a bike. Mind you my bike riding skills were nothing to brag about.

I'll have a look at that 237SJ. Thank you. Gness, i could hula hoop when I was twelve but I had a waist then.
I wonder if belly dancing might work?
I am also a 34'' waist.

Nice and slim then, Tony.
But I am 5' 11''.
You don't mention your height, but have you considered a second career filling yourself full of brandy and suspending yourself from the neck of a St Bernard?

LOL @ mrs overowl, she will get ya ya know.

It would have to be a flippin' big St. Bernard, Mrs. O.
I am nearly 85 and your typical little, round, elderly lady. It is not comfortable. Spare tyres are not cuddly they are painful. So I have got desperate and joined Weight Watchers. After two weeks I have lost 4 lbs (2 lbs a week). You have to stick to the prescribed amount of food though Tilly and it seems you are not willing to do that. Can't think of any other way. Your weight is decided by the amount of food you put in your mouth (and swallow).
Well done, Star.

I'm only nine stone ten. Not some big fat lump.
