Hi there everyone,

Please please can someone help. I have a son who is 12years old. For the past 2years approx he has been suffering with warts on the palms of his hands probably over 50 or 60 on each hand. We have tried so many things from freezing them, over the counter treatments and even went and had an allergy test to see if there were any allergy problems. Now the warts are spreading to the front of his hands to and I feel so sorry for him as he is starting secondary school this year and kids can be cruel. I would really appreciate any advice that anyone has.

Hi louculhanane, let's take a trip to OMG!! strange but true land. My daughter was plagued with warts on her fingers 3 - 4 years ago and we tried all available medical remedies.
Nothing worked until one day her gran said "oh we used to suck them and they'd disappear".
I know, I had the same reaction but guess what? A few weeks later no more warts! I appreciate that it's going to be difficult to get a whole hand in his mouth but maybe consider spitting on them and rubbing it in. What does he have to lose?
Hope it all works out for him, good luck.
And we were told to rub dandelion milk on them, and blow then to the moon.

I have no warts.
Is your son healthy in all other respects?
They will disappear.......probably take another 2 years.....but they will go.
There is no effective treatment and when they disappear, it will be attributed to the bizarre "cure" that preceded the disappearance.
keep going back to your gp to get something done as this is not acceptable - for your lad to suffer like this. they have laser treatment (which you haven't mentioned) and i'm sure there must be other approaches but you must demand to see a dermatologist asap. don't leave the gp's (have a sit-in if you need to!) until he gets a referral and that they are aware of the effect it must be having on his mental health as well - because it must be so hard for him and he may need support with that too. try the polite approach first - but dig your heels in if you feel you are being fobbed off or not referred on....he must see a specialist x
p.s. most children his age do get warts, but obviously his are very extreme. i would not advocate waiting at all to see if they go on their own. he needs active treatment, or at the very least monitoring and support while he is experiencing this and the care of a dermatologist and/or other consultant if necessary.
Icg76......what treatment have you got in mind.

Yes Laser treatment is available for solitary lesions, even, in some cases for multiple lesions.....but this patient has 50 or 60 on EACH hand and increasing.......not the case for lasers.

I agree that it is distressing and a Dermatological opinion would indicate that "no stone has been left unturned"
as i said squad - just to make sure everything has been considered for this lad + management and monitoring. he may also need psychological support for living with this condition and the bullying he is experiencing. op is not definitive on what has and has not been tried - just trying to encourage her to keep supporting her son. x
Icg76....I understand....;;-)
morning, squad. how are you? hope you're feeling better these days x
Yepp! back to normal thanks....Club at lunchtime followed by 26 lengths swimming each day.

Mrs sqad is a bit "twitchy"..................but que sera sera...;-)
cool, great to hear....tenga un bueno dia y adios. we ladies do the worrying for you men x
How are you Squad ,i have finished 12 cycles of chemo and all the nasty bits seem to have disappeared which is great news , but the after effects have floored me , but onwards and upwards
owd...well done....never had chemo personally, but it is no "walk in the park"
