When your time comes to draw your last breath, would you like it to be suddenly
(as in a heart attack) or would you like to have a few weeks to maybe put your affairs in order and to reflect on your life?
A bit of a morbid Q I know but I was talking about it earlier with a few friends and it got me thinking. Personally, I would like a bit of time to reflect.

I would go for the heart attack option. My Dad died of a heart attack (while he was strimming the lawn) and when my Mum found him she said he had a smile on his face. That would do for me.
I have a feeling that when I leave this earth it's more likely to be preceded by a feeling of "that looks hard and it's approaching fast"

Chances are the hard and fast thing will be the ground or something just outside a car.
My mum and dad, both died of heart attacks both in their mid 70's and both were physically and mentally fit. One second they were there then they were gone. A shock for those left behind but no prolonged suffering or anything, I'm hoping it runs in the family.
I'd go for the sudden option, but knowing my luck it will end up being a long drawn out affair!
Good question - this is one reason why it's important to put your affairs in order now, you never know when your time will come.
Oh Boxtops, what a very sensible answer.
:-) it sounds (and feels) a bid morbid sometimes, but there is a sense of satisfaction from having Wills done and plans laid, but it means that if the worst happens earlier than we expect, what we want to happen, ought to...
No point in bothering something we have no control over, I suppose. Ideally though I should like my partner and my dog to go first to spare them grief. After that, couldnt care less.

No one would like a bit of time to reflect then?
It must be me. All of my friends said that they would like it to be sudden as well.
(i) old friend of mine working in Brussels, her old man died in a bunker greenside of the 16th hole at Musselburgh.....took them ninety minutes to play the last three holes (hit and drag, hit and drag). The first part is true.

(ii) all true. The ex Chairman of Vickers at Barrow-in-Furness flew out to Majorca with his secretary for a weekend of rumpy-pumpy. Then when he died "on the job" his wife and her husband had to fly out to scrape up the bits.............
I wouldn't want to reflect, nailit - that would make me even more sad and distressed about leaving everything good behind.
I just want to die in my sleep.
ive seen both sides of drawing your last breath...and ''the quick option'' is by far the better way...as boxtops so rightly says you never know when your time is up...
That is just what I was going to say Ratter. What a lovely way to go. I am not frightened of death, but don't want to be ill beforehand, I do worry about that.
DT that reminds me of a coach driver who had a lady friend (she was a friend of mine) He popped his clogs while spending the weekend with her. She had the job of trying to to crawl from under him, informing Police, his employers telling them to tell his wife he had died at his lodgings. Me I want to go suddenly, no hanging about in pain and gasping.
Because I fly for a living I always thought I would die in a plane crash. I remember talking to my oldest and best friend. I told her that I thought I would snuff it in an aircraft and she said "yes, I think you will die in a plane crash too". I don`t believe her (good job I have a sense of humour)
I was once told by a friend "Live each day as if it is your last. One day it will be".

Good advice, eh?
My dad went suddenly from a heart attack at 72, my mum slowly of cancer at 80. No good way to go. I'll just accept it when it comes. My wife and I are both prepared either way, wills, insurance, etc.
Yes, you do have a sense of humour, 237SJ. That is 'plane' to see!
