just out of interest, how many "more than one night stand" relationships do people have before they settle down a bit. It may sound a silly Q. as most people would not be sure they are settled down for good. My sons seem to have loads in comparison to me at their age!

Weeelll...I'm 30 and I've had two fairly long term relationships, three fairly short ones and a few one night things before 'settling' down.  But it could have been completely different if I'd met different people at different times, if you see what I mean...I don't think there's any pattern to it.
Hi ya, I'm 35 and settled down at 28, had 3 long term relationships, a few shorts one and no one night stands.
Settled down at 21 (didn't intend to at the time though!) and had one long term and one short term before then. No one-nighters.
Same here, a few long ones, a few short ones and a few one nighters... when I settled down I didnt even realise!!   I think you just fall into it, if you're both into eachother then thats when the relationship builds.... then I hear its all downhill afterwards!
I am 27 and have 'settled down' now. I had 2 long term relationships before this and 4/5 shorter ones. I also had some people I had regular smooches with although I wouldn't have considered them boyfreinds - we just went out every now and then and did 'stuff'. There are also  those who rated less than that- just a bit of spontaneous random fun!
34, 3 serious long terms (2 nearly married), 10 non long term but still serious, and about 20 one night stands/very short term.Very very very very glad I didn't settle down. OMG.
I'm 35- have had 2 serious ones, a few "flings" and numerous snogs! But no one night stands-- couldn't do that!

Thanks for spilling the beans folks! just thought about your answers, I may be wrong but it looks as though the girls are more forthcoming than the boys, and poss more honest about it. it seems as though it is a different process for most with the same ending, not all that we learn along the way is positive, some things are there to turn you away. Travelling around the globe i have met women of different cultures, some were "good girls" some were most definitely not! it is probably due to peer pressure as much as anything else. Was anyone who answered pushed into commiting themselves to a situation because of their friends, that seems to be the case with my sons?
lol I settled down with the first one . . . saying that I aint that old =)
well, I'm 25 in June & I've had no serious relationships, 3 or 4 near misses but over 200 one nighters or lads I've been with on a casual basis. I'm gay, but some str8 girl friends have had twice as many !!!

well spikes, that is quite a scorecard. just wondering, are things that way for you because of the general homophobia that exists that may hinder the possibility of you settling down as it would be asking for trouble, or is it the way that the gay scene conducts itself, please understand that i am not out for a cheap laugh i am generally curious.
