Nutrisse.
I feel the same Icg, have stopped dying my hair for the last few months, I just hate the thought!......going to see what colour my hair really is without it, and then decide, so far it's not bad, the colour is near to the colour I used to dye it to, a bit more grey, but I think that some highlights will fix that!...
How bizarre, just been to the bathroom and though 'good grief, your hair is sooo grey' and was going to ask a question about just leaving it or sorting it out. We rent this house and the bathroom is white and I don't want to get any marks on it (v difficult dyeing should length hair by your self).
This is your hair you're talking about, your crowning glory. You've got to treat it well or you'll find it will dall out. Don't but cheap stuff to do it with spend a bit more and cut back on something else.
Yes as tw says use Nutriss, you know it makes sense, and you're worth it.

I stopped dyeing my hair when I reached 60 and at first it looked like I had streaks but now it's nondescript but I really couldn't go back to colouring it again.
sher, I know!.......you can make such a mess when colouring your hair on your own, thankfully, mine is very pale blonde, well more grey these days, so not so bad, but if you use a brown or black colour then you can make a real mess with it!.......wish I was nearer, would do it for you!............
I used to go into chemists shops and gaze at all the boxes and look forward to the day I would go grey, and I could try out some of the colours. Now I dont look at the boxes any more as I already have a bus pass and still dont have any noticeable grey. OK, not completely true, occasionally I see one and quickly pull it out!
I'm only 42 - it's grey as buggery (look like one of them National Trust wives - mad hair and no regard for their appearance, not into make-up, etc but the hair is a problem).
Sorry about spelling errors fingernails need cutting :p}

Oh sher, bless you!....are you naturally dark haired? it always shows up more when you are, I,m not into make up either!.....can't be bothered with it!....never could!......
Hey, even the youngsters are dyeing their hair silver, check it out.
grasscarp did you use to be ginger only I have friends the same age as me but they hardly have any grey but they are naturally ginger.
I would go with Nutrisse as well. It's ammonia free so you don't get the smell. I found that the John Frieda foam didn't have a strong smell. I would only suggest that if your hair is short though. Mines is needing done badly. Red hair with dirty blonde roots is not a good look!! Lol!
I am very very dark brown, some would say black. When I was about 20 I tried to bleach a streak of it, which was the fashion then. I left the bleach on in a foil covering for required amount of time. Took it off. Nothing. No change whatsoever. Decided that I was meant to be the colour I am. Still same colour it was all my life. People dont believe I dont dye it though. Cant win.
Hi Welsh, typical welsh colouring, very dark hair (well, used to be).

thanks, guys. can't say i remember if they stocked nutrisse, but will keep my eye out in future, esp. for sale bargains! my hair is now a relatively lovely (if not tame) shade of dark brown. at least i don't have to look at the gray - it really was quite bad. now...just gotta do my nails, sort out my make up box and pluck. then i'll be good to go for tomorrow! x
Oh sher, the grey shows up so much more, I'm lucky I guess, I had very light hair anyway!.........you're going to have to go with a colour!........careful of the walls when you do it though!...........
Garnier Nutrisse is good, as previously said by others. It actually smells lush and is under £5 :P
This question reminded me of when I was younger. I eventually got tired of dyeing my hair and let it grow out. I had remembered it an entirely different colour than it was. I always thought I was mid blonde and in fact my hair was quite dark. Time has passed and it is now white - my husband used to refer to 'you platinum blondes' - he was very romantic. I am glad I do not have to dye it any more, it was such a chore.
