Do you think that if I was to flirt with someone on the Internet, go on webcam etc and speak on the phone a lot to them that this is as good as cheating on my boyfriend in some way?  I'd like to know an outsider's view, thanks

Yes - I assume he has no idea that you are doing this, so you are decieving him.

How would you feel if he was doing this with some random girl online?

Personally I would say no, it's not cheating.  Cheating is actually meeting up with them and...well, you know what's to follow!!  It's an escapism for you and as long as it goes no further, then it's not really a drama.  Mind you, you gotta ask yourself what your guy would think if he found out....tough call honey, but for me, as I say, it's not cheating.

nah, but i would consider finishing your boyfriend before you met them!!!

maybe its more a betrayal than cheating?

I have been speaking to this guy on the net for 2 years and have been with my bf for 7 months.  I love my bf and I have no feelings for the Internet guy other than friendship.  My bf knows I speak to him and no, he's not happy about it as this guy flirts with me.  Do you think I should stop speaking to him?  Yes, I know - I would hate it if my bf spoke to a girl from the net but it's not as though I started speaking to him after I met my bf

It doesn't actually matter whether any of us think that it is cheating or not. The boundaries of a relationship should be established by the two people in it. Do you so want to keep your bf that you will stop the internet flirting or not? Does your bf so want to stay with you that he will accept your internet "friendship" or not?

Once you have discussed these issues with your bf then you will know what to do!!

in the lords eyes even if you think about cheating it is! it's a very hard thing. i say if your not talking dirty with him and you knew him first then tell your bf. if he doesn't understand then ditch him. their are plenty of fish in the sea!lots of luck!!!!!!!
does anybody know  how to find corbyloon?we were chating back and forth and my question was banned. now i cant find him.

that's a tough one. provided it doesn't affect your relationship with your boyfriend, i'd say it's not cheating. however this pans out, i hope you have fun

i think that maybe this would be ok, IF he wasnt trying to flirt with you. the fact that he is is probably the worst thing . and in your bfs eyes it will be terrible, imagine how it must seem to him (no disrespect or anything) but imagin if he was talking to a girl online, you knew she was purposefully flirting with him and every day he would make the effort to, and enjoy talking to her? i wouldnt like it if it was done to me. but as woofgang says, its between you 2 at the end of the day
It is not cheating, but it is slightly dis respectful to your bf. You have already said how you would feel if the roles were reversed. Think about it from your bf's point of view and you will realise that he will feel threatened.
If you were giving all this attention to one random stranger, I would question why you were not giving that attention to your boyfriend.
Oh well said Octavius

If it was my boyfriend, then I wouldn't be too happy about it...think of it that way?

ALLO I was here all the time-I think Brenda The Elephant was in the road.
Technically no, everyone flirts with everyone in some shape or fashion, and cheating is only cheating when something happens between the two. Have you told him to stop flirting with you? Or have you let him carry on?

Thanks all so much for your answers, they really made me think.  Yes, the Internet guy knows I have a boyfriend but I live miles and miles away from the Internet guy anyway.  I know my bf wouldn't like me to meet him so I doubt that I will.  Anyway thanks - I feel very confused etc.  Some of you said it wasn't cheating but most of you said it was.

Misterman - I am afraid to say I am guilty of flirting.  In my eyes, it's just for a bit of fun.  The thing is, I chat on msn a lot so I chat to him quite a bit.  My boyfriend works long hours etc so I only see him twice a week.
