I think you should be proud of any well developed skill, if you are a top burper, why hide your light under a bushell?  OK there are some conventional folks out there who might not see it that way but you wouldn't want to go out with someone that you couldn't be yourself with.

Question right back atcha, do you have a boyfirend / partner at the minute?  If not, it might be an idea to introduce the burping gradually ...

I know how you feel Krissy04 I also burp rather loud, but only infront of my friends. My boy friend encourages me to do it as he says it is a natural bodily functon, but I can't bring myself to! I think (if you do have a boy friend) that you should just gradually introduce the burping as buchanan said. You never know he may be rather impressed and my challange you.

When I first met my partner I wouldn't even let him see me without make up - I even wore sunglasses to bed.

Whenever I needed to burp or fart I had to leave the room for fear he would be put off.

Now that we have been together for years, we both belch and fart quite freely in front of each other, oh the romance !
I'm surprised you need to ask. But, then again, that's what this site is for. Yes I would mind if it was deliberate.
To be honest I think I would find it quite obnoxious if it was done to show how loud you can belch. It is, as Andy says, part of that "Ladette" thing which is soooo nineties. Having said that, I do enjoy a good loud belch myself, but would think twice as to the company I was in, whether I shared it or not.
OK so we all burp occasionally - don't make a party trick out of it - certainly not a belter.  We've all tried the ladette thing and believe me it doesn't work.  If it happens accidently say sorry and move on.

If someone burps loudly accidentally and then apologises, that's fine.  A lot of youngsters now do it intentionally and think it's funny.  I find it really revolting.

If, I'm honest, I find it really offputting.  I still say pardon if I burp or fart in front of my husband of 30+ years and he does the same.

I was born in 1947 too, In A Pickle.  Some people might think we are 'boring old farts'!

I, like everyone else burp. Last year, I worked for a few months with a girl who constantly burped loudly. I found it repulsive, as I would have done if it had been a male. There's a time and a place.

A young lady where I work tried this once.  She thought it was 'kewl' to break wind in a rest room full of people at lunch time, the louder the better.

Same went for burping, without the thought of a hand to her mouth with a polite 'excuse me'.  Her closest friends tried to pass it off with 'she doens't know any better' but even if not taught at home basic manners are learned in school, even on the roughest playground.

Trying to be a ladette may look 'kewl' on TV but suffice to say not one member of the males staff asked her out for a drink in two years.  I wonder why?

In short, it ain't big and it ain't clever.

As I always say to my 9 year old daughter and 5 year old son:

People always remember someone else's good manners.

They remember bad manners even more.

Yep, it's gross Krissy!  I don't know how people think their own burps and farts are funny and clever.  I find bodily things funny when nobody else can do them (I enjoy watching somebody turn their eyelids inside out or perhaps dislocating theie elbow).  I have been to some rather odd parties in my past.

Just joshing of course but really we can all burp and fart - what's so great if you can do it too?

Well I'm another 'boring old fart' at 57!

We don't make a song & dance with burping or windy popping in our household, but if the odd one or two pop out, we all say pardon me..

1947 was a wonderful year!

It is a natural bodily function but I too think manners are important. I'm not embarrased by burping and often have a bad case after a few shandys on a friday night but I always place my hand over my mouth and I have to  say pardon me or excuse me after. It's an inbuilt mannerism now and I hope that I'll lead by example to my little boy!  And this is coming from a 23 year old female!

I don't think it's a turn off.  I think that is probably a good idea to say 'pardon me' after belching in front of people you don't know very well, but in general I get a kick out of burps and farts.  I'm in my thirties and I still enjoy potty humor.  My wife and I  do the 'pull my finger' routine regularly and try to outdo eachother in burping.  She can say the alphabet while burping!!  The way I look at it, we all do these things, so we might as well get some enjoyment out of them.

I too belch and fart rather noisily at home in front of b/friend. We both do, in fact the noisier the better - we really do have a laugh about it. In public however is another matter, i wont do either, if I did I would be horrified but would say Pardon... behind closed doors its up to you. Ive been bought up well by my parents - they too fart and sometimes they're right rip-roarers that have the whole family in fits of laughter!  My parents are both 58 so when you're born has nothing to do with it! I have a good job and I know what manners are. Belching and farting is considered courteous in some countries, especially after eating a meal!  So how can it be crude... now cupping a fart and putting it in someone's face... thats bad (but I laughed my head off when I saw it being done to someone!!) tee hee  ... some people need to just lighten up... but you're entitled to your opinion of course!
