Child protection is always the big one... guidelines on things like photography and access...

Also I'd look at the lastest guidelines on information giving.... there seems to be a trend to give children more info about their condition as soon as they are old enough to understand ...

thankyou very much Rowan!!! good suggestions x
Perhaps multi-agency working? Keeping in contact with other professionals working with the child; e.g. if they have physical needs that will need to be met at school working in collaboration with teachers to make sure these are met? Also; keeping up communications with parents?
Consent to treatment - have a look at that, particularly the Gillick competencies http://en.wikipedia.o...ki/Gillick_competence , and the latest Safeguarding guidelines from the Department of Health. Are you looking only at paediatrics? If it's older children, there is some interesting stuff around teenage pregnancy at the moment.
You also need to consider cultural and religious issues - many people from other backgrounds will have different ways of approaching child health, issues such as weaning and alternative medicines. Just because those approaches are different, doesn't mean they are wrong - cultural awareness in all aspects of healthcare is really important, it's something I'm doing work on at the moment.
