What kind of pain is it? Like a sharp pain, or a dull ache?
I would imagine it would depend where the scarring is and what the injury was, the depth of the wound, was it from an operation or accident.
Question Author
More of a sharp pain, a bit like a sting.
Question Author
It was from an operation. The wound was around an inch deep. It was left to heal from the inside out instead of stitching.
Right. This is now going to sound absolutely rubbish, but I'm not even sure why I asked, because I can't really help or offer any kind of advice.
The reason I did ask, is that I've got a scar and, after 4 months, I still have this dull ache there.

I would say visit your GP. Sorry, that has to be the worst AB answer ever! :-(
Ohh, that's weird. I had no stitching either, it was just bandages up and left to heal.
Bio Oil, gently rubbed into any scar will ease the pain, and help fade the scar quicker. I had a hip replacement and a year later the scar was barely noticeable.

Lol. It's ok, more answers make me feel more popular. ha ha.

Don't really want to waste the GP's time if it's quite normal so thought I'd check it out here first.
Personally as long as the wound is looking ok, its not red or hot or swollen I would have thought it is ok, however a call to the department that carried out the op would put your mind at rest.
Question Author
It had to be be packed for a about 6 weeks to it could build up.

I'd not thought of Bio Oil. Thanks for the tip, I'll try and get some tomorrow.
What sort of operation was it? Is it a port site from a laparoscopic (keyhole) procedure? It could be an undissolved suture that is in an odd position or wound site hernia.
If it persists you'd be best to consult your GP.

Thanks Ratter. The scar is very pink/purple and a little dry but I think it looks as it should. I'm always worried about wasting the time of medical people.
Question Author
It was to remove an abscess Philtaz.
I agree with RATTER's second post also take an Ibuprufen 400mgs to relieve the pain.
