My lovely mum has found a raised bump between her boobs. It feels like a little hill and it's hard. She has docs this week but I'm beside myself with fear as we are ridiculously close.

I know she's seeing a doc, but does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing. Im terrified it's breast cancer. Reading on the Internet doesn't help as that's all it seems to point to :-(

i know its not easy but try not to worry unnecessarily, let the doc have a look and go from there,im sure things will be ok x
Looking on the net at any symptoms can have you sick with worry. Easier said than done but try to stay positive and wait and see what the doc says. x
I have had one for 20 years now. I have to tell them that it`s been checked when I go for a mamogram. Fear struck my heart when I found it. It turned out to be a fat nodule and hopefully your mothers will be the same.

hi lyla,
oh bless you,
im going through just the same thing with my mum, and i too, am beside myself with worry... im terrified.
mums lump was found on her mammogram a month ago, she had tests done and was diagnosed as having invasive ductal breast cancer ..... :o(
shes going into hospital, next wednesday, on her birthday, for surgery ....
its been, and still is, such a very worrying and unnerving time for us all.
we too are a very very close family and i think the world of my dear ol mum.
i just pray and hope everything will go straight forward with mums treatment and she'll come through it all ok.

(i too have been reading up on the internet for hours on end every night.. its scarey isnt it)

so i know just what youre going through lyla, and my thoughts are with you x
Oh lyla, try not to worry! I know it's easier said than done!...but it may be nothing to worry about!.......please let us know how she goes.....x

Thanks for everyones reassurance. I really appreciate it. Looobyloo this has always been my fear, which is silly really. We are too a very close family and so obviously worry. What was your mums lump and where? Is it same as I describe? I wish you the very best and hope all goes well xxx
Well I'm no expert but a lump 'between her boobs' (rather than under, or within, one of them) doesn't sound like a classic symptom of breast cancer to me.

Even if it is, the survival rates are much higher than you might think:

thank you xx i hope so too, and i do hope your mums turns out to be an innocent lump
mums is on her right boob, and measures 19mm.
I would agree with what someone else has said....please do resist the urge to look it up on the internet.

I went through a womb cancer scare and after reading about it on the internet, I was absolutely certain I had it. Turned out to be fibroids, thank goodness.

Best of luck that all goes well for your mum. Yours too, Loooby. x
lyla,mI hope that Chris's answer has helped a little, he's always there to help if he can!......try not to worry!......x

Thanks everyone. Much love and will let u know xxxx
Yes, I've been there and done it. The worry is un bloody believable. My lump was on a breast rather than between them and I was pushed through double quick. I had some painful and worrying procedures, but thankfully all was OK. From the research I did at the time it seems that about 90% of lumps are completely harmless. It just doesn't stop you worrying though. Mum us doing the best thing. Seeking help asap. If there is anything to worry about she will be referred quickly.

I wish you both the best at this worrying time. I've been there, I know how it feels. x
thank you mrs c, thats very kind of you x
It's not malignant it is a prominent sternoclavicular joint.
Why post this in CB?

If sqad is correct then it's nothing to worry about - but it needs to be checked out for your mum's own peace of mind. The right thing is happening - lyla, try not to panic, your baby will know if you are upset Panicking doesn't get you anywhere other than in a scary spiral - but I know that is easy for me to say, it's not my mum.... best wishes to you both ♥
redhelen....nice to see you back...........
