today i have been sick and had the runs ,any home remedies for this,all i have eaten is 2 slices of toast and a green tea.thanks

Tonic water helps for me. Last time that happened to me, I didn't eat anything at all for 48 hours, only drank water. After that I could eat normally (and I did lose 5 lbs!).
If you have food poisoning it is a good idea to eat nothing for 24hours and just drink a little water at room temperature. Then start with crackers or dry toast in small amounts. If you have eaten bread and it has stayed down it is unlikely that you have food poisoning, I would say.
Kaolin and morphine used to be a very cheap and effective remedy until a few years ago when the busybodies banned it. If you are tolerant of alcohol, I can recommend port and brandy; stops the runs and settles the guts.

Ginger is good for nausea so you could try something like ginger tea or ginger biscuits. Avoid anything too sweet initially though.

Make sure you don't get dehydrated. I tend to go for something like lightly salted crisps to get some salt back accompanied by lots and lots of water.
Rehydration powders to restore the body`s electrolyte balance such as Dioralyte or chemist`s own brand. Small amounts of bland food to keep energy levels up and when better, avoid fruit, dairy and spicy foods at first.
A GP told me years ago that the best thing for a dodgy tummy is flat Coca Cola (the full sugar one) - I opn then can, leave it for an hour so it goes flat, then sip it. Seems to work for me n kids!
Yes - people tend for forget Dioralyte or similar, I always take it on holiday but I don't know if people think to use it at home!

Water, diarolyte, bed and sleep for me. I tend to just wait these things out I'm afraid. Mind you, I've <touch wood> never had anything so bad that I thought it was food poisoing, just tummy bugs. When I feel ready to start eating, I always start with toast and marmite.
If you want to make a fizzy drink flat put a spoon in the glass.
ps. If you want to leave the drink in the can, just put the handle of the spoon in. It does work
