I didnt have HRT and had an easyish trip through the menopause...as well as the raw sage I had evening primrose tablets. Anyway good luck with it puzzled
I'm back - Just finished watering and feeding my garden plants - yes, Salla I have a soft spot for Sqad as I do Redman - they are my two favourite guys........(plus Sqad's loaded, so that helps - <<<who said that !>>>>>
Squad needs rubbing down with a cold towel DEN ! He would have hot flushes himself by the time you have finished with him !! lol lol
I would be gentle with him Redman - I have read all the articles in the Saga Magazine about how to handle the 80+ stallions (:o)
hahaha DEN !
Yep, Squad the stallion of Menorca !
Where is that man when you need him ??? :-)))
he is swimming up and down in his Olympic size swimming pool .....
I took HRT for near on 10 years. My doc sent me for blood tests every year to measure your hormone levels. When he thought the time was right he weens you off,

I did have a rare hotflush but it was very mild.

jem
Nah Den, he's only got a little oval shaped one.
Afternoon Jem - hows you ?
Oval shaped what? I leave for a couple of hours and when I get back it has just got interesting.
interesting jem. when my late sis came off hrt, very gradually and on her doctors recommendation when she was 53, she started getting all the menopause symptoms. she'd been on hrt for years, having had a hysterectomy in her late 30s.
so whilst i can understand why some ladies just go straight for the hrt when it all kicks in, my understanding has been that it just delays the inevitable and that at some point, if you're going to get them, symptoms will appear.
for myself, i'm glad i managed to get through it 'au naturel' but would never, ever criticise anyone for taking anything that helped them cope.
tried hrt, tablets and patches, it turned me into a screaming harridan with hot flushes...My bestest symptom is the dizziness. It was so bad at first that my doc thought I had a neurological illness. it was like drunken whirlies lol. Now it is greatly subsided and only happens at night. I wake up feeling like I am falling backwards. If this happens to you, never ever try to ride it out lying on your stomach. The feeling of falling backward upwards, while not to be missed as one of the marvellous and rare experiences that the female body is capable off, is also deeply, very deeply unpleasant.
Salla - I think the little oval shaped ones are better - you have to use less chemicals to keep all the bugs and fungus at bay, especially around the rim !

Sorry, puzzled for going off track on your thread xx
I don't know whether to laugh or baulk....
woofgang - I am going through the dizziness stage at this very moment in time - it can be migraine, but along with the flushes I was thinking menopause. Thanks I feel like I am not going mad now . (:o)
its amazing...I started this 17 (OMG) years ago. I knew about the hot flushes and thought it was all discussed openly but no one mentioned the dizziness, bottom drops out of your stomach feeling, the joint aches, terrible memory (DH says no difference there lol) poor sleep, mood swings. Then you mention a symptom in a crowd of ladies of a certain age and one or more will say oh yes I get that too.....
I am always amazed at how many older ladies (like myself) suffer from it. I always thought it would go away after a few years. Just luck I suppose (bad luck, not good.)
Woofgang, Why are you suffering like this? it is 2011. there are things to help you. don't be a martre. I don't understand when one little pill each day can make you feel a 100 dollars. and look soo much younger too. Our Queen is 85, but she only looks 75. WHY? HRT.

jem (I'm passionate about this)
Jem - how do you know the Queen is on HRT ?

I have never taken HRT, mostly because I now quite a few ladies who after taking it developed breast cancer (now this is just my own personal opinion). The women involved never had any family history of it and were told, quite possibly it was because of HRT. I have had breast lumps removed, so thought I would play safe and keep away from it.

Wow, just got back on answerbank, and am amazed at how many people have replied.
I'm not having a bad time with the menopause, just the flushes. Have never mentioned the funny stomach feeling to anyone before in case they think I'm weird - it's so nice to be anonymously weird! Also find I get more flushes if I have been poorly, think thats why I'm noticing it at the moment as I had a migarine a few days ago and am not feeling quite 100%.
Will try the sage leaves Maizie, I only asked about the sage tea as I had some in Egypt.
