My foot(the top of it)Has swollen up again,so I went to the Doctors again, and he gave me antibiotics, again. Now as I was getting fed up of having a sore foot and me being the naughty girl that I am,I stuck a sterile needle in to see what would come out.Now I have a small puncture that is weeping a clear, almost colourless liquid. It has a slight greeny yellow tint to it,but I wonder what this stuff is and is it a bad sign(ie I should not of stuck a needle in it and it needs medical attention)
Any answers please?
Thanks
Aya

Its not cellulitis is it?

Im clutching at straws though no idea! X
Ouch, sounds painful with the needle. If you gently press a finger in the swollen part, does it leave an indent? If so then it is fluid that's making it swollen but I don't know why it should be swollen. The doc must think that it's infected if he gave you a/biotics, didn't he tell you what the cause was?
I can't remember the history of your "foot" and the description of where the problem is, is a little obscure to say the least.....foot? toe?

Sticking a sterile needle into it is not the worst "trick" in the world and no, you haven't done any damage and no, you don't need medical attention.

The liquid is serous fluid the end result of a bacterial infection. It will leak for time, but you have antibiotics to cope with the infection.

The next 48 hours should see it settle.

Sorry for being vague Sqad, its the top of the foot by,the little toe,but not involving the toes, about 4 inches long going towards the ankle.
It does leave an indent then gently fills back up.
Thanks for the re assurance Sqad, the way it is throbbing I look forward to 48 hours time.
Thanks everyone who answered,much appreciated.

Sounds a bit similar to when I had cellulitis (skin infection) on my foot. It took a while to clear with antibiotics but one thing which really helped was them telling me to keep my foot above my head for 48 hours (I had had it a while and been on strong antibiotics which weren't helping). Might be worth keeping your foot raised to see if that helps alongside the antibiotics.

Hey that's something to keep in mind as this is my 3rd lot of antibiotics, but I would have bother doing that,I an supposed to be looking after OH who is recovering from Nectotising Faciitis,a nasty flesh eating bug but it may be worth mentioning to the Dr if this does not clear up.At least today it seems to of gone down a bit.Fingers crossed X
Do Hope so Aya, keep on top of it and as has been said raising the foot when possible is good.
