you could try drying it with.. there's an anti-fungal talc. can't remember the name, sorry!

ask at a pharmacy.
No it is not trivial to go to GP, it sounds infected and you may need something on prescription to clear it up.

oh great thank you all - just out of interest has anyone else had this?
Well.....it could be fungal.
It could be bacterial.
It could be neither.

2choices..........go for the fungal cream Fungisin or Daktarin for a couple of days OR go and see your GP who will take a swab and find out the nature of the invader.

Your choice.
Yes, I get that from time to time. I think it`s something to do with being lax about drying properly (in my case anyway). I know I`m going to get it because it gets itchy but if I scratch it it can become quite sore. I get a cotton bud and dip it in Savlon cream then shove it in my belly button (gently of course). Doing that just once seems to sort it out but if it persists I would try an anti-fungal cream such as clomitrizole.
Yes I get it almost all the time Tilly, my diabetic nurse gave me Canesten because she says it is thrush.....I am not so sure though....why is it so frequent thats what I think! May mention it next time i'm with the doctor.....
