Saw the Great Professor himself - as camp as a row of tents at a scouting weekend, but so lovely. I think we have definitely found the right man for her - it's just going to take time & patience & lots of Plan A, B, C........ before we (he) happens upon the exact right treatment.
Once again - a blasting of antihistamines, tds. If no success, the addition of Ranitdine, if no success the addition of Montekulast. And so forth & so on.... until the treatments are more potent with more side effects, which obviously we all want to avoid if necessary.
He's tested for coeliac disease, lupus, vit D insufficiency and she sees him again in 2/12.
He really is a sweetie, & obviously knows his stuff. I don't think he'll fob her off or, 12 months down the line, say it is something she will just have to learn to live with. After all, if her immune system breaks down altogether she will struggle to live, normally.

What worries me is that he has asked her to ask her dermatologist, in Feb, for perhaps the prescription of Protopic (Tacrolimus). Now I have done research on this, and there is a big ?? over this in its 'black box' status and its link to various cancers, even with short-term use. So I am very wary of her using this, but to be honest hydrocortisone & all the usual treatments are not working. What would you recommend? Proceed with caution? Avoid at all costs?

What has she got to lose? Mmmm.... quite a lot if the warnings are to be heeded.
The risk is more in a patient with a suppressed or weakened immune system - which she obviously has - it's her most worrying problem at the moment, from a health point of view if not a cosmetic point of view.
It will have to her decision, but I don't want to scare her with cancer stories.
