ok so i have been on omprazole or however you spell it for 3weeks to treat acid reflux..at the start of this i did not have a cough just bad heartburn. since the last 2weeks i have developed a cough..it began as an ot of control noise which began to bring up lovely green stuf at night and early morning, now its decided to be more of a tickly, feels like something is aggravating your throat kind of cough. Docs gave me coedine phosphate but it doesnt seem to be working. I'm prone to chest infections and had similar symptoms to this at Christmas time.

any advice would be fab thankyou

It sounds as though you have had a chest infection and the cough is taking it´s time to settle which is not unusual.

I cannot see that it is anything to do with your acid reflux or Omeprazole.

Continue with the Codeine Phosphate at night and the cough will settle.
I've read a few articles recently stating that a persistent cough can be a symptom of gastric reflux

karen you are quite right, but look how VPF describes his cough

<<.it began as an ot of control noise which began to bring up lovely green stuf at night and early morning,<<

That has been an infection......the cough of reflux is almost always non productive of sputum.
But he also says that it is now a 'tickly, feels like something is aggravating you throat kind of cough'. I am not disputing the fact that he has probably had an infection, but the persistant cough he has been left with could - at least in theory - be connected to the reflux.
karen....quite.
