Bloody Spanish bankers , why do they pretend that their adverts are anything to do with living in England? Grrrr, they've filmed them and think the one agvert will probably do for every country.,

well...they took over abbey national, didn't they? it was pretty **** before then, in my experience - perhaps they will make a better job of it! x
Thought Santander was Irish? Just trying to remember who told me that!

They've taken over Bradford and Bingley too, so my account in there and my account in Abbey are both now Santander, but they still keep me waiting and pretend they are paper shuffling to wind me up grrrr
Why is it pronounced Santandaire and not Santanderr?
My grandaughter is a financial advisor with Santander and says that Abbey has been owned by them for quite a while......
Question Author
yes they snealed in awhile ago, has she seen their half baked advert with a kid on a bike riding through perfectville on a sunny day, pretending it;s england, what a laugh
It sounds although I must be lucky.
I have never had any problems, either when it was Abbey National,Abbey or Santander.
I,ve always found them to be very helpful with any questions or queries I might have,

One of the ladies in our branch has worked in there 38 years and she's seen so many new owners, she's not holding her breath for this one to last .
They're Spanish...........

.... and I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole any more, I had a B&B account which I wasn't impressed with, and service got a good deal worse once Abbey took over and then that was taken over too. I closed the account when they told me they were going to charge me £10 if I wanted to draw a counter cheque from my own passbook account.

No Zeuhil my point is that they are using the same ad here that they probably use in every other country, it depicts a suburban idyll with glorious weather and clean streets with noi wheelie bins on the pavement, it's a fantasy land
I bank with Santander..........they have some great accounts on offer, are efficient, and the taxpayer is not bailing them out.
I have had run ins with them under both Abbey and Santander banners. Well publicised in the papers a few years ago about their shambolic probate department. We had bouquets and apologies but my blood still runs cold at the thought that they came within a whisker of bouncing mum's cheque for my fathers funeral. Not something you forget or forgive. My mum stays with them. Lord along knows why. I dread when her debit card is up for renewal. They always screw that up.....
