Best not to on the drug front. However, have you changed your clothes, showered and washed your hair since you came in? Also keep your windows shut if possible. Frequently change pillowcase if you've not washed your hair after being outside and then slept on it.

I says this as pollen is very small and will stick on you when you're outside, so you want to avoid as much as possible spreading it around your (pollen free, well as much as poss) home.

hey pigletion.

i came in from work.. and had a cold shower straight after cos i was sooooo hot and sticky and yes i also washed my hair and changed.

the windows are open, i need it open to keep the apartment cool otherwise i will suffer from heat exhaustion. itis already 28 degrees. i cant take it ....
=( ='( help!
i took the medi at 8.30am ... it is over 12 hours....
I feel your pain on the heat front, just had to close the windows as the mozzies are biting me and now it's roasting.

Obviously only you know about your drugs and how they affect you, just be careful. Remember they can make you drowsy (even though they say non-drowsy) and if you take them now and in the morning, you'll be more doubling up tomorrow's than today's (if that makes sense!).

Hope you find something that works. My friend had this stuff that looked like lip balm that she put round (up??) her nose that relieved her symptoms, though I have no idea what it was, but someone else might!
.......Aaaaaaaaachoooo !
And I want to wash my eyeballs under the tap and put them in the fridge , and get all those itchy ants out from under my skin around my forehead and eyes .......
I can empathize Whitebears honey x

Oops 2 posts lol
That's what I take too , Cetrizine 5mls once a day .....ONCE a day ! That's not enough is it , not this year .
Im on 10 mg and theyre great, my hayfever hasnt been a problem as such until this year, i was nearly taking my eyeballs out and washing them along with the dishes the itch was so bad, but alls good, well we'll see when the pills end

Therema, i thought i was getting popular then!!! i dont have time to see my gp, =( im stressful as it is!! i'll see how it goes tomorrow!!

bigmamma..... its very high pollen count ... even one of my colleague who never had hayfever is getting some of the symptoms !!do you think its far worse than a normal Flu???
Think Piriteze is cetirizine and Piriton is Chlophenamine (alt. Chlorpheniramine). Though prescribed might have a higher dose. Maybe some will work better than others for you?

Have you tried a different anti-histamine? I mean a different active ingredient, not the branding.

My Mum and bro however both have allergies and take stuff with both of the above in (not at once!) and have that Beconase nose spray, the thought of which makes my eyes water!

I think this year is particularly bad though, see a lot of people suffering and sneezing

Pigletion.

i used to take the Boots version and it used to work fine. until last week i realised it wears off after a few hours. so i chose a different brand -thought i try Piriteze, this works abit better but after 10 -12 hrs, im sneezing, itchy eyes etc wanting to shove my head in the icebox!!

i also use Beconase nasal spray, dont really like it though, but i tend to use it when i go to bed. i have also been using the hay fever eyedrops............. i think im overdosing myself lol
Course your popular hunni lol, you get loads of really good advice on here, read all the posrts, maybe something will help or set you on the road to getting help

im off to bed now. night night everyone- except the hay, u can just disappear -if i had a magic wandx
It is really a problem for so many this year Whitebears , my dose usually is enough but this year it doesn't work from late afternoon onwards .
Night sweetie , sleep well , oh , and I hope you don't dry your pillowcases outside hun xxxx
you may have to try several different types of anti-histamine in order to find out what is right for you at this time of year with the particular irritants that are getting to you. generally, piriton (not piriteze) is the best remedy out there and that is what they treat allergic reactions with in hospitals as a first port of call to stop them in their tracks. it is good stuff, but can make you drowsy. you can also use eye drops and nasal sprays, but you must check with a pharmacist that you are not overdosing yourself on a particular substance as that can make you feel pretty rotten too. a visit to your gp to explore your options also sounds like it may be useful. i sympathise with the heat also - i have been parked in front of my fan all day (i have a little travel one too!) and have still had to have three cold showers to cope as i am such a sweaty beastess. they say the heat wave is almost over so we may get some respite soon. good luck x
I rang NHS Direct to ask about an itchy and swollen face, they told me to take an anti-histamine. When I told her that I'd already taken a one a day tablet she said that another one wouldn't hurt me. Maybe your best bet would be to give them (or your doc) a ring just to double check.
Fingers crossed it's gonna cool down after tomorrow so hopefully the pollen count will go down too.
