I've recently started wearing contact lenses and have tried both daily and monthly disposables (both Specsavers own brand). The monthly disposable ones have what they call a 'handling tint' which means the lenses are tinted a very light blue so if you drop them they are easier to find. However, while the tint doesn't affect my eye coour, I can clearly see it in the whites of my eyes, which I don't like. Do all monthly disposable lenses have this kind of handling tint or can anyone recommend a lens which doesn't have this?

Wow, lucky you, you must have REALLY white eyes! But in answer to your question - no, not all monthly disposables have a handling tint. I can't think of the ones that don't right off the top of my head, but there is a directory of contact lenses that your optician will have (every practice should have one) that will tell him/her which ones do or don't. You should really ask your own optician to reccommend something else if it bothers you, since if I just told you a brand name they might not be suitable for you - everyone has different requirements for their eye health. Good luck!

My contact lenses don't have a tint to them, they are the ones that stay in day & night for a month & then you chuck them. They are called Purevision by Bausch & Lomb, and I get them from Specsavers 18 a month.
Wish I'd known that when I used to wear contact lenses, I thought they all had that tint though! Unfortunately mine irritated so much I had to give them up after 12 months and the whites of my eyes which were bright white before have forever since been dull and bloodshoot. How pleasant!!!
