I am trying to change my dentist to a more local one. I have found one that is actually part of the same group as the one I attend, however they tell me that they are not allowed to transfer all my records from one practice to the other. This apparently is the case whenever you move dentists - they tell me it is illegal to transfer the records - is this correct? It seems a bit barmy to me as they won't have any of my history etc
Usually when you change dentist they will carry out their own assesment of your current state of health in regards to your teeth, including counting, checking and any x-rays etc. as well as some general Q&As.
This often gives them enough information to continue treatment in the future.
when i joined my dentist, they told me it is not like the doctors where they pass your records on each time you move.
they do an assesment themselves.
approach the new branch again & dont mention their partner- just apply as a new patient & see what happens.
