There are two readings the higher called the Systolic and the lower called the Diastolic. Most people feel that the lower one is the more important in evaluating healthy heart and arteries. Systolic over 140 is questionable and Diastolic should not exceed 80. Both of these figures are mms of Hg (Mercury)
