For the last 6 months or so I have been regularly getting an uncomfortable sensation in throat/chest. It feels like I have swallowed a big lump of food-something dry and dense , like brown bread , without chewing it properly. It feels like its slowly making its way down to my stomach and feels like its trapped in my throat. It tends to come on at night-I awoke this morning with it. Ive tried searching on Internet but I think the symptoms are too vague. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Im 40-dont smoke but do drink. Is it indigestion ?\but ive got no acid/burping or anything like that. thankyou

thanks Ethel-it does sound like it-caused by stress perhaps as my job has recently got a bit more demanding-thanks again.
Globus pharyngeus is a diagnosis that must only be made by exclusion. You need to see an E,N.T surgeon to exclude an underlying cause. After saying that, Ethel is probably correct
I have just been diagnosed with acid reflux disease after having almost identical symptoms to yours. I saw an ENT doctor who inserted a flexible camera up my nose and down the back of my throat(it was painless and very quick),I then had to have a bigger camera inserted down my throat under general anaesthetic(had a really sore throat after this one).I now have to take 2 tablets a day to control the acid reflux that I didn't even know I had which is caused by some anti inflammatory painkillers I have to take. The sensation of having something stuck in my throat has now gone :-)
I've had similar to Daffy above, and to you - am now on tablets every day (Lansoprazole) and my symptoms have completely gone - its been like a miracle cure. Try looking up Hiatus Hernia as well on the net - that may hold a clue too. Good luck
