The doctor won't give to them because they will do more harm than good.

You don't need them and should not take them.

Your symptoms can be caused by many things - including depression.
you cannot self medicate yourself, for one thing it is very dangerous to your health and wont kae you lose weight (a popular misconception) you need to go through the right channels if you have an underactive thyroid.

you see a gp and you have a blood test, if you have already done this and the doctor feels you dont need medication then you probably dont.

like ethel says you may be suffering from depression, eat properly, take regular exercise and dont bottle any problems up.

The doctor knows what he is talking about. You obviously dont, so why dont you take his advice? You will feel far worse if you start taking thyroxine when you dont need it. Be thankful you are not more ill than you are and stop looking at the medication as a quick fix for your weight and general lethargy. Try going for a walk instead.
Try and get hold of some coconut oil - it's solid below 25, so it looks like white grease in the jar. You should be able to get it in a health food shop, and while you're there get some oil of evening primrose for joint pain. I take a big teaspoonful of coconut oil on my muesli every day, and 2 - 4 OOEP capsules (depends on the strength). They took ages admitting I was (slightly) thyroid deficient too.
Like you I was diagnosed as having slightly underactive thyroid, but not enough to warrent medication. I wanted to find out where I could get them privately. A private clinic examined me and confirmed my underactive thyroid. He was very keen to give me the prescription He charged 40.00 for the initial consultation and 28.00pw to supply Thyroxine and Duramin. Each weekley visit thereafter was 20.00 + the prescription (144.00) Then once monthly for a check up (132.00) So in two months I'd spent 344.00. By the end of 6 months I'd kissed goodbye to near on 1,000 (if you include the petrol money).

Although I saved on my shopping bill (Duramin being an appitite supressent), I had to buy new clothes because of weight loss. However my next monthly visit the clinic was closed, no answer from their phone. I was in panic, I needed my tablets, what was I gonna do ?

For a few weeks I was in a bit of a state, so I went back to my GP, explained about the private clinic, the pills and results I'd acheived. I almost demanded the same prescription. He explained the clinic closed due to the practioner being struck off 4 'willie nillie' hand outs of drugs (Duramin can be quite addictive). So be very carefull about decissions you make. A GP will be regulated far more than a private clinic.

You may feel lethargic due to your metabolic rate, which will be slightly low if you have an under active thyroid, but there is a cure for this without medication . . .

. . . its called exercise. Taken on a regular basis will raise your metabolic rate, eleviating lethargicness, controling weight increase and give you the same feel good factor that you get from chocolate . . .

. . . Oh, and sex of course (brillient to raise your metabolic rate). You need to put a little effort in, to get maximum out. Eating sensibly is one way, but it is FACT that exercise makes for a healthier lifestyle fullstop. Join
