I just have a question about birth control. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the Intrauterine device. Commonly called IUD. Is it painful, or cause problems for sex or anything related. I need a non-hormone solution for birth control.

IUDs have been used for many many years and are safe and reliable.

There may be a little twinge on insertion but nothing to worry about.

It does not interfere with intercourse, but of course it does not protect you from sexually transmitted disease.

The biggest problem is it MAY cause heavier periods. If you find this is a problem after it has been inserted, stick with it for a few months. The periods may settle down.
A lot of women have no problems whatsoever.

Speak to your GP.
