Around a month ago I had an operation on ligaments in my thumb and the scar is quite sore, and it is a bit painful inside the area as well. It does not look like the area is infected, it is quite red on the scar. Is this just healing, and does it take time for a wound like this in the hand to get better? Would anything help ease it ?

Just spoke to my sister who is a doctor. She said this is completely normal. All you can do is take painkillers (over the counter is best) and exersice it as much as you can.
Try bathing it in some warm water with a couple of drops of lavender oil.. have found it really good for healing skin and it soothes well too.

Thanks everyone, I guess I will just have to wait until it gets better, as long as this is normal I have peace of mind! Thanks again :o)
