Loratadine - Can I Take More Than 10Mg A Day?

I’ve been bitten on my arm and it’s itching like mad. I had one tablet at about 10.00 this morning. Is it safe to have any more today?

The rule says 10mgms /day.maximum.

In your situation I would take another 10mg tablet before you go to bed tonight.
I also would use hydrocortisone cream 1% on the bite threetimes a day.

Yes, another 10mg isn't going to hurt you.

However, if OTC anti-histamine isn't giving you sufficient relief you could ask your GP to prescribe Atarax 20mg which you should only take at bedtime.

Thank you both very much. I will have another one when I go to bed. I’ve been using hydrocortisone cream as well but it’s so itchy!!

I get quite nasty bites too. Thew best thing I have found to use at bedtime when the itch seems to be at its worst is an icepack

I was advised my our scheme manager to see the doctor, and have made an appointment for 3.00. it's very swollen and still very, very itchy.

Make sure you don't have a 'bulls-eye' rash - Lyme Disease is, sadly, on the increase

Thank you to everyone who has commented about this. The doctor has put me on antibiotics, a stronger antihistamine called Fexofenadine and has given me some stronger steroid cream. She also drew a line around my ‘poorly’ and said to go back if it spread out of that line. Fingers crossed! The itching is much less. In the chemist when I went to get the prescription, they had run out of ‘anti-itch’ cream as I think a lot of people have been bitten around here.
