Hi

My doc has give me some tablets before but getting off them was horrible and i dont want to do that to myself again. I seem to have tried herbal but they dont do a great deal expect St Johns Wart that worked but i later found out it stops your pill from working.

If anyone knows of naythig i could try please let me know, im sick of crying and been down in the dumps!!!

There was a discussion about this on the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 yesterday....some of the callers ringing in had awful symptons, and were basicly unable to function during that time, the only respite was to remain in bed

It may be worthwhile using the "listen again" function, as the doctor they had on was very helpful to the callers. I missed the last part of it, so there may have been an address to write to for more information

Diet can have a big effect on pmt. Make sure youre eating healthily; especially make sure youre getting enough zinc (the best sources are: meat, fish, oysters, liver, vegetables. Legumes, nuts, soya & eggs also contain good sources of zinc). You could also think about taking a zinc supplement if you feel you are not getting enough from your food. Also eat plenty of natural whole foods, and try to avoid anything processed, anything sugary, caffeine & alcohol. And finally, drink lots of water!
I joined www.pms.com It is a very good site with lots of info and, if you sign up (there's no cost, so don't worry) they send regular updates via e-mail about the latest views and treatments etc. Hope it helps and feel dreadful if I upset you on the parenting site. Take care and good luck.
I completely sympathise. I suffer from bad pmt at least 1 week and often 2 weeks before im due on. It makes me moody, anxious, sensitive, grumpy, absent minded, fat and hungry!

I dont know what the answer is. Ive tried taking a double dose of evening primrose and I must admit I think it helped. Ive lapsed again now and have been worse the last couple of months so maybe there is some benefit in taking it. I'll have to start taking it again and see.

Are there any other problems in your life that just seem worse when you are feeling hormonal? I know that when I was stuck in a grotty marriage, it all used to seem so much worse at that time of month. Now Im happily re-married and dont feel quite so depressed. Just all the above symptoms!

Hope that you find something - if you do let me know!!

Thanks again

my doc gave me tablets for anxiety but i'm convinced its pms, i only get it just b4 and during the beginning of my periods, sadly though dont know of anything else that could help
try starflower oil capsules, agnus castus, and 5HTP or connect tablets from health food shops

starflower oil capsules are really good.
