....MrsJanz found a lump on Boxing Day. She had a hospital appointment yesterday the 4th January. She had all the test mamogram ultrasoninc ect and was given another appointment for this Friday. All so far normal procedure. However during the course of yesterday's appointment both the radiologist and the consultant separately asked her if someone would be with her for the Friday appointment. She fears the worst (as do I), should we, or is this normal procedure.

When did your wife have the mammogram?
Consider it a routine question they ask , nothing will stop your mind racing.

They simply prefer people to have support in case there is something untoward.

Best wishes to you both for a good outcome.
Was your wife told why she has to return to hospital on Friday ?
Mammogram yesterday and return on Friday if I am reading the post correctly.
Does she need to have a biopsy? If so, they may prefer that someone is with her.
In my experience, the powers that be don`t tend to tell you that the patient needs to have someone with them when they get the results of scans etc.

\\or is this normal procedure.\\

I think that this is normal procedure for that hospital and certainly they would never do a biopsy without warning you.

Friday is your wife's "big day".....all the best.
Very worrying time for you both, without a doubt.....hope all goes well on Friday. :)
\\\ the consultant separately asked her if someone would be with her for the Friday appointment.\\

I have given your post further thoughts and all it means is that there will be someone else with you to support what the Consultant has said as you may be too" worked up" to "take it in".....good or bad.

He will discuss with you the findings and if anything else need be done.

That is it.
