My doctor has prescribed lemon flavoured soluble Adcal-D3 tablets to be taken twice a day. These are free of charge as I am over 65.
I hate these and have tried to disguise the taste by adding orange juice, but that has not helped.
I see that Holland and Barrett sell calcium and vitamin D tablets at £12.99.
I could ask my doctor to change the prescription but don't want to do that in case they are the same as the Adcal-D3 tablets.
Please let me know if you take the Holland and Barrett tablets and how you get on with them. Do they taste horrible or are they easy to take.
Thank you

If it were me, I wouldn't go buying them, I'd go back to the doctor, explain the problem and get my prescription changed.

A jay, I take Osteocare supplements as I could never get on with Adcal, they made me feel sick.

Osteocare contain magnesium and D3 and other minerals for good bone health.

I have Osteoporosis and so far this supplement has helped.

You can buy them from chemists and supermarkets.

I have asked my GP to prescribe them, the ethandron, but would be grateful if you would please advise the size of swallowable caplets you take.
I've just tried measuring one.
They're about three quarters of an inch long, and a quarter of an inch wide, slightly bigger than, say, a paracetamol caplet but not as big as a cold liver oil bomb. Because of their shape they slide down very easily.
There again, I don't have a problem taking a handful of any shape or size tablets and happily swallow eight of varying sizes and shapes in one go every morning.
