My OH had something similar but not for so long, managed to get to Dr during the severe pain and when examined Dr could feel that the bowel was in spasm. He had to get some IBS tablets from chemist and that did sort him out.
By "Bowel Pain" you mean abdominal pain I presume as it may not be coming from the bowel at all.
You will have to wait for the results of the scan.

More, many more details required.

well the pain she has is coming more from the side of her tummy abdominals i cant really give any more details than that she is in a lot of pain when it does start for just 30 seconds or so at a time.....she was at the hospital last year with this pain but they put it down to a cyst which has showed in last weeks scan bu is very small now so that cant be the problem i just think she is getting fobbed off at docs with tablets that arnt doing her any good if not making her worse
Sounds very similar to a problem I have - diverticular disease. I've fainted with the pain when it's severe. Buscopan and peppermint oil capsules help. It's not pleasant but is manageable.
Well I must say, that one must consider kidney stone.....if the pain is in her upper abdomen, colicky in nature, making her sweat when it comes on, then renal stones are a possibility.

Diverticulitis is also a consideration as suggested by Borheid, but this tends to be lower abdominal and particularly painful when passing wind.

A reasoned diagnosis may only be entertained after a hospital referral.

thanks both for your replies.... she s at the docs on wed for checkup but shouldnt think she will be getting any results.....they were meant to be reffering her to a gynacologist last year but have not heard anything yet.... but i cant see why she would need to be sent to gynacologist?

something else i found strange was that she drank more than 1pint to have the scan but when they did the scan the bladder was empty why would that be??
