she has made two plaits each side at the back of here head, either side of a central parting and then twisted them around each other and pinned the ends in on the opposite side of her head from the start of the plait and tucked in under the bulk of the plaits.

It's just two french plaits with the lengths twisted together. It's not even been done with all that precision, but looks good.
