I have a rash all over but mainly on my chest and tummy. It is very itchy and looks a bit like eczema (which I had as a young child)but it isn't flaky. I am now 53 and although I know I have sensitive skin and avoid the usual perfumed products etc,my skin has been fine all this time.
The doctors,I've seen 2,think it is an allergy and I have been prescribed anti-histamines and a fucidin (hydro-cortisone) cream. I have now had it for 2 months and it is just as bad as when it started. They don't know what is is.
Anyone know of a miracle cream or had something similar.?

I can't be of any help I'm afraid, but it sounds very like what my husband's aunt contracted nearly 9 months ago (and still has but not so bad) and she was told that it was scabies! caught from a hotel bed. We don't believe it, and so would be interested if you get a better diagnosis.
At your age I had a similar rash and it was put down to the menopause!! I ended up having to see a consultant dermatologist and put on steroids, both by mouth and in the form of a very strong steroidal ointment. I would ask for a referral. Fortunately, my doctor is quite quick to refer on any problems that don't respond to treatment or for which he hasn't an answer.

I know how awful it is because I had to stay off work for weeks and weeks and spent a lot of time in tears.

Please go back to the doctor.
Fucidin doesn't contain steroids, it is an antibacterial agent.

Fucidin H.C does contain a steroid

Which is it?
Sqad: ganesh says in the above text that it's Fucidin H-C cream.
I'm suprised they didn't prescribe you Dakracork (miconazole nitrate 2%, hydrocortisone 1%) - another useless cream that did me no good.
It was Dermovate that cured my rash in the end. It had to be used sparingly and only for a very short time.

Dermovate, Daktacork and Dovobet are the ones I've tried and neither of them worked for my psoriasis. They even tried me on Prednisolone. In the end I gave up! Good luck with it ganesh :)
diz...perhaps that what she meant but I took it to mean Fucidin (hydro-cortisone) as describing the cream.......i.e hydrocortisone cream.

However diz, I think that you are correct......it is Fucidin HC

ganesh....what medication are you taking? Other than the anti histamine tablets?
Prednisolone worked but every time I stopped it the rash came back!
Yeah I suppose it would be wise to know exactly what she means :)
I'm probably not the best person to comment about steroid creams since non of them have ever worked for me. You're probably more medically minded in that field than I am anyway!

I know what scabies feels like! It drives you insane itching. There's a little telltale mark like a u-shape usually on your arm where the mite gets in. No huge rashes, just red bumps now and then. You have to cover yourself head to toe in ointment for 2 days and then it goes away.

My mum came out in hives and a rash once after eating lots of spinach and raspberries - apparently it's very acidic and she had a bad reaction - could be something in your diet?

It is Fucidin H cream and it has no effect whatsoever. I've also had 2 types of anti-histamine.
Interesting what you say about the menopause. I am 3 years into that but still get hot sweats.Could be a connection, but why now and why doesn't anything work? I will go back.
PS Do you eat the honey or spread it? lol

Probably you have thought of this , could it be a detergent or softener.?

I've been through everything in my mind,I havent changed anything and I have re-washed all my clothes and bedding and double-rinsed them.
Try Dermol .It's an antibacterial lotion which you can use to wash the area with and it will soothe the itching. Or you can just rub it into the affected areas and when .I can vouch for it .My GP prescribed it but I think you can buy it over the counter. It's very effective. You can it in a tube or pump bottle .

Thanks,I'll try dermol, can you get it in Boots or is it only online?
I'm sure you can buy it over the counter ganesh . Pop into Boots and ask .Hope it soon clears up whatever it is :)
Most of the stuff that you can get online you can also get OTC at boots. Obviously if that medication is prescription only you can't without a prescription but, I have noticed that some of the medications to be ordered online are not prescriptoin drugs (possibly to stop kids from ordering drugs that they shouldn't be taking?, sounds right to me). Ring boots and ask? :)
