Why am I attracted to these things?

Things I find attractive in women:

red hair
short hair
a slight squint
freckles
overbite
gap in front teeth
strong/straight/angled eyebrows
a scottish or irish accent

What is attraction? What makes me drawn to those features? And what happens if I meet a woman with all those things - will I just explode or something? Just ONE of those features can make me go all gooey.

I can't really say why we find certain physical attributes attractive, we just do. There must be some part of the brain where this is pre-programmed from birth because people seem to always find the same things attractive.

Also, nature has found a way of making different people find different things attractive. That way it ensures the survival of the species.
There is a school of thought that says the things we are attracted to in adult life are formed because of a person we bonded with during our formative years, maybe at nursery or primary school.Did you ever have a female teacher with all or some of those traits?
What does your mum look like???
I suppose it could be worse- you could be searching for the woman who has ALL of things.

if she has- God help her!
What about her mind? What if she had all of the above but was a thick as pigs**t and had no personality?
You will explode and be all gooey?! Ewwww!
Where's Dr_Legend now, just when he's needed :D
It's really just whatever turns you on ---go for it.
If you do meet someone with all the things you like, please would you let us all know what happens. Will put the champagne on ice now. Good luck.

tigger, ultimately yes her personality counts but you misunderstand me, I'm not saying ONLY physical things attract me, just that it's often the 1st thing you're drawn to, or it's what makes you think someone on TV etc is attractive. In many ways it's obvious why personality traits attract you, what I'm curious about is why certain physical things attract us.

Lucy that's very interersting - the idea that nature makes us all be attracted to different things to keep the species going; therefore I make up for all those who DON'T like squints etc.

daffy I can't recall anyone from my childhood with that particular set of 'quirks'.

My mum has none of those features!
I find the subject of attraction endlessly fascinating.

I have been home for lunch, and accompanied my sandwich with a recorded re-run of 'Secret Diary Of A Call Girl'. What is it about Billy Piper?

I watched the scene where the camera is in long slow close-ups of her face and shoulders as she showers. It must take a deal of confidence for an actress to be that 'naked' - as in no make-up - with the world looking on.

I just think she is gorgeous! Those eyes, the way she walks, and that voice! The killer is the way she looks at men. If she can do that with her eyes when she is acting, what must it be like to be in thr receiving end for real!

I am not one of those men sprayed with evolution's aftershave - no-one is going to nudge their mate and go "Phew ...!" when I walk past but ...

such times as I have proved attractive to a lady, it has been virtually instant, and very powerful. I have no idea why, but I have been grateful for those occasions.

The copmcept pf attraction is a mystery, but a daily pleasure to explore.
Better watch Eastenders more now Biana is back. She has short ginger hair. Not quite the right accent but she has freckles. Can't remember what her teeth are like.

Thanks for the tipoff Jenga but while she has nice hair, I don't find Patsy Palmer attractive. And I can't stand Eastenders!
There is a theory that we are attracted to people with similar features to ourselves.

You are not Groundskeeper Willie by any chance?
