Green shield stamps

Was listening to the radio this morning and was reminded of these, basically you needed to smoke about 3 million ciggies to claim some lame gift like a whisky glass.
Anyone else remember these?

you used to get them at tesco, when tesco stopped giving them out that was the end for green shield...

There were shops not unlike Argos where you could search through a catalogue and pick what you wanted to redeem your stamps.

Same for Embassy tokens...............I remember lying on the hearthrug about once every couple of months counting all my Dads vouchers into piles and seeing what we could get out of the catalogue.................:o)

When I was self-employed I used to put them on My Insurance card instead of proper ones. They caught me eventually and I was fined �100 but I also got an Electric Kettle from Tax people.!!

I was just thinking that it was a bit like Argos. Although I remember redeeming what seemed like a wheelbarrow of books for my father, only to be able to get a dreary little tyre pressure gauge.

i remember the green shield stamps 4GS and the embassey cards as my dad was a smoker. I think he collected them but never got anything with em, they were all over the house, same with my ex husband too. He smoked embassey filters. i was constantly finding the bloomin things .
