generally, no.

The contributors are basically made up of ppl much like ABers. Anyone can write anything and edit any piece in wikipedia.
Wouldn't that fall under knowledgeable enthusiasts?
I've contributed some to Wikipedia, in a subject area I'm studying a degree in, so I don't know if that makes me an expert or an enthusiast.
Both!

An undergraduate is - by definition - not an expert. More knowledgeable in the subject than the average 'man in the street', presumably, but far from being an expert!

If you consider that anyone - literally, anyone - can create a Wikipedia entry and anyone else - literally, anyone else - can edit it, you will realise how insubstantial its information might conceivably be in some cases. It is a valuable resource, of course, in many instances.

A journalist - just to prove a point - recently signed in, using Mickey Mouse as his name, and created an entry. I wonder, therefore, whether the organisers themselves could answer your question regarding just who its contributors are.

Question Author
although i am aware that anyone can contribute, some of the articles do appear to have a very proffessional/academic style
