I have been using sunbeds on and off for a few years now, with no problems at all. I have, over the last 4 weeks or so, developed (what i thought was) eczma on the top of my leg, at the back (just below my bottom crease). After a visit to my GP today, iv now been told its a fungal infection (which my partner thinks is absolutely hillarious). we think it could of been caused by using a lay down sunbed? (usually use stand up). any one else had same problem?

sorry havent had the same problem but one simple question... why are you using sunbeds?? you put yourself at enough risk going out in the sun (myself included)... with all the spray tans etc that can look very real today is it really necessary to use sunbeds???

my cousin died at 26 of melenoma skin cancer. is it really worth it??

Agree. Quit the sunbed it's just not worth it. It will make you age faster and can cause cancer.

I know someone who caught Scabies from using a sunbed. She contacted our local Environmental Health who investigated & found out my friend was not alone in catching them from the salon.

Gross!!

Sounds awful. I have been to an internet cafe before which I am sure had fleas. I kept itching all the time and felt I was being bit.

yeah i caught a fungal infection off a lay down sunbed but i was using a shop one and a friends so i could not prove which one it was from. i took ages to get rid of had all kinds of shampoos and creams, some which made it worse but it did clear up and did not scar just takes time. if you know where you got it from i would complain, they must not have been cleaning them right. i ( i had it on the bottom of my back)

Thanks for that veritymoon, Im not sure which sunbed i caught it from, i usually use a stand up but occasionally ive used the lay down one at the gym (nice and relaxing after a workout!!!), and in retrospect, im not sure if anyone cleans them after each use. I always clean a sunbed after ive used it, maybe i should've cleaned it before i went on!!!!!!! a lesson learned i guess!
Last november I had a mole removed and 3 days ago I had another removed (9 itchy stitches!), the first one was a bad one. I will have to wait 6-8 weeks for the result of this one. I used sunbeds,DONT DO IT !!.Johnsons Holiday skin cream is much better at safe tanning ! xx
