I hope so.
Suppose it depends on the building owners regulations , most people don't like the smell of smoke wafting into the building plus it being a fire escape might extra rules .
The only 'general' law which prohibits smoking is the one that refers to 'public enclosed spaces'. [Ch.1, Health Act 2006].

There are also bye-laws which prohibit smoking in specific places (such as at railway stations, even in non-enclosed areas).

There is NO specific legislation which prohibits smoking on an external fire escape. (Internal fire escapes would be covered by the 'public enclosed spaces' legislation in offices, hotels, blocks of flats, etc but not in wholly private accommodation).
Ruddy 'eck! That was a short AB membership. The poster has gone 'User Inactive'!
Does the 3.5 metre law apply
I'm still trying to find the rules for a Fir Escappe.
Sounds French. Is there a missing accent?
Anyway, after Brexit it shouldn't matter, right?
Still, if wood is involved, perhaps the street would be a safer venue.
smoking on a fir could lead to ash

this is a no, but..... type question innit
no you can smoke unless forbidden in places such as British Rail and if the fir esscape is there then it would be

also there may be building rules ( imposed by the building managers on the lease holders)
or employer rulesv.... but as no one has pointed out these are nt really laws

( british rail ones are: I think you get fined)

so Chris - - - the poster has gone up in smoke has he?
//Does the 3.5 metre law apply ? //

o thank god for Brexit ! - get it back to good old imperial measure- 6'
and on conversion you will see that we save at least 3 ft ( 6' is around 2m)
oh joy oh liberty, oh Boris !
Dump metric? Sure. Join the only other hole-in-the-mud countries that don't use it - Liberia, Myanmar, and of course… the United States of America.
