... when you've had a tooth out?

Last Weds morning the dentist removed a tooth of mine (it was broken, not decayed). My jaw still hurts, the soft tissue swelling is settling but my jaw feels like I've been punched all along that side, and it hurts in the joint where he stuffed in the big anaesthetic needle.

I've not had teeth out for years. I still need cocodamol. How long.....?

\\\When Does It Stop Huring...\\\

When it is bl00.y ready.

P.S the injection doesn't go into the joint/
Boxtops , sorry to hear that, it is a horrible pain. Google dry socket and see if it may be a possible cause. Hope you feel some relief soon. xx
Yes that ache can last a while, just keep on the cocods for now.

sorry to see you are in pain boxtops

hope you get better soon
I got a tooth out, it fought to stay in my gum so there was a bit of fight between the tooth and the dentist.

I had to go to the doctor for another lecture and moaned about the pain and he gave me something. This was a week after the visit to the dentist.

Paracetamols should help - or those things sqad has shares in.

I have had a few teeth out over the years, to be honest I never felt much more than a little discomfort for a day or two. Sorry to hear you are suffering, maybe give your Dentist a ring on Monday and let him know, he may need to check it out.
My husband had a tooth close to the back out yesterday morning. Said it was a little painful after injection had wore off but didn't take anything for the pain. Back to normal today. Just had a big dinner of veg and 1/2 roast chicken tonight followed by strawberries and ice cream. I had two out week before Christmas, one a top wisdom one side and one on lower other side. No problems with pain just a bit awkward eating for a few days. Is your dentist a bit rough?
Paracetamol or cocodamol would be best for the pain. See your dentist if no better after the weekend.

Thanks all, I'll see how it is on Monday :-)

sqad, I know it's not IN the joint but it feels as if it goes in the hinge.... same as if he injects for front teeth, it feels as if the needle is going right up your nose, aargh.

Let me whinge anyway, I don't do it very often :-(
a friend had a dislocated jaw following tooth extraction.
Possibly disturbed the ones either side which will have made them feel on edge.

I'm not surprised, anne - I had several out at once many years ago under GA, my jaw clicked for ages after that. This dentist on Wednesday was heaving and shoving (but very nicely, you understand) - I feel like I've been in the boxing ring.

I've just Googled dry socket, perhaps I shouldn't have....
DON'T Google anything medical. You'll be convinced you have everything going. I looked something up a couple of years ago and was told there was a good likelihood that I had an ectopic pregnancy. I was over 60 then.

And I'm a bloke.
Lol
Lol.
I admit to googling things sometimes, but never symptoms and never for myself or my children.

LOL, I did look, only because "my friend had a dry socket" last week, and I'd never heard of it....

Been to the dentist this morning - those of you diagnosing Dry Socket were correct. (I thought not bleeding after the procedure would be good, but apparently not, it prevents the Good Clot from forming in the socket :-( )

Amoxicyliin, here I come :-(
