not as mental as it sounds, the hairdryer i've been using for the past 10 yrs was a cheap one but it did the job and has never broken or given me trouble but it was bought for me by my ex when we were in a get back together phase which was never a good idea and didn't last.
and so i've been living with this hairdryer for years and every time i use it it causes me to think of my ex and the whole disastrous relationship and drawn out break up.and it now looks v worst for wear and I am so looking forward to throwing it in the bin tomorrow with all the associations. funny how possessions can become caught up in emotional feelings like this.

Good for you
Throw it in the bin NOW, don't wait until tomorrow!
Understand perfectly. I held on to photographs for many years then one day I took a tin bucket out the back door, sat on the doorstep and burned every one of them. Great feeling to shed the past.
Try this for a new begining

should have done it ages ago but my thrifty side stepped in and stopped me. but it very worse for wear now so it's time to go. :O) :O) :O)
I wish I weren't thrifty, I hang on to shedloads of stuff for far too long.

i don't know if anyone else has been thru this but i spent 11 yrs in a relationship with the ex in question in my early 20's then 30's and i really regret it. he had problems and didn't treat me well and my obvious lack of confidence led me to put up with this behaviour. i try not to believe in regrets(the journey we travel makes us who we are today) but it's hard for me to say that i dont regret this relationship. :O(
it's like i held up my life with this guy.to the point i'm deciding i'll have to give up on having a 2nd child because i'm running out of time.

and yes i need to do more of this.i've been having a good clear out and is to be continued.
Jenarry I was also in a relationship like this for 10 years and also feel it's 10 years lost. Although I'm very very happily settled with someone else now for over 12 years there is hardly a day that the ex doesn't invade my head or my dreams.
Question Author
not just me then prudie. i personally look back on that time and my mind screams that i shouldn't have put up with it/i should have moved on.and was almost like a different person back then. it feels very strange when i think about that 11 yrs of my life and how my life was. :O(
I'm exactly the same, it was almost like I was in a different universe. I'm also so ashamed of how badly I let myself be treated that I've never really told any friends or family what went on. Anyway good for you dumping that dryer!
Question Author
yes i'll second that, :O) he was a very dependant person and even now i wonder/worry about how is doing but i'm glad i made the break and made my own life away from his chaotic life and all the dramas.
Question Author
