Which book has a temple tower 1000 yards high, a royal kitchen and an oven as big as the dome of St. Pauls?  Thanks for any ideas.

Sounds like Gormenghast castle. So it might be Titus Groan, Gormenghast or Titus Alone.

This exact same question appears in the Quizzes and Puzzles section.

Someone there also suggested Gormenghast but Peake's work and style is fantastic and any reference to a real place seems incongruous ie. St Pauls Cathedral.

Someone else suggested 'Brobdingnag', and if you look in chapter 4 of 'A voyage to Brobdingnag' from Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" you read the following;

"The King's kitchen is indeed a noble building, vaulted at top, and about six hundred foot high. The great oven is not so wide by ten paces as the cupola at St Paul's ..."
