Are any of you lot going to see Harry Potter 7, part 1 when it comes out?

Unfortunately i'm one of the Potter generation who grew up with it. Although I was only four or five when the first book came out and didn't get into them until some of my friends went to see the first film and I went along with them.

If they weren't aimed at adults they wouldn't have made 'adult covers' for them which are less colourful with fewer pictures would they . . .

Same as Redhelen. I know a lot of adults do like Harry Potter books and films though, but not my cup of tea at all. My son did go to sixth form college with one of the actors though!! One of t he Weasleys, but I don't know which one!!

I haven't read any of the books either or seen any of the films.

The publishers are canny enough to realise that they had a substantial adult readership and so gave these grown ups the choice of dust-jacket.........

J.K.Rowling wrote the books for her intended audience - school children.

they dont appeal to me at all either and my kids are too young to watch them

Mollykins, you are lucky to have grown up with them. In olden times there was a much more unitary culture - only a few TV channels, so everyone would be able to discuss the programmes they'd seen next day with everyone else. Not so many books. These days it's unusual for people to have the same cultural experiences to share, so for a generation to have grown up reading a few of the same books is unusual and something to enjoy.

I've just started the last book of the Twilight saga.

Actually, now you come to mention it, the gay who plays Edward Cullen is pretty gorgeous.

Luckily, I'm not in my 30's.

I've not read any of the twilight books but i've seen bits of the first film.

They are fab.

The 3rd film is out on DVD next month. I can't wait.

I haven't read any Harry Potter books but I have seen one of the films, the second one I think. I only went to see it at the cinema because my ex wanted to go. Not really my cup of tea.

On the other hand I grew up reading The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and I can't wait to see the film, The Hobbit when it eventually gets made. Seems like its taking forever.

I only started them a few weeks ago. I, too, had mentally pigeonholed them as books for teenagers. Out of curiosity, I bought the first one, and was hooked.

The next time I was out, I bought the other 3.

I've just started Breaking Dawn.

What's the one online? I know there are a couple of stories which I'm not sure how they fit in ... The Host, and The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner.

Are they part of the saga??
