Hi nota - the only reference I can find in Peter Kay's Sound of Laughter is in chapter 4:

"When I was at school you could get a starter, main meal, pudding and carton of Vimto all for less then 50p. You've got to go to prison to get value for money like that these days. I was also a sucker for seconds, even though it wasn't allowed. I'd tell the nun on the checkout that she'd given me the wrong change. She'd give me another 50p and I'd get straight back in the queue. Magic. You can never have too much Manchester tart. Paddy McGuinness will back me up on that one. Only he won't be talking about the pudding".

I can't find any other references to gypsy tart - sorry.

Hi Lardy - how are you? I won't touch Vimto since I realised it is an anagram of vomit!

Hi ttfn - how are you? Welcome back! How was your holiday? Don't like Vomit, sorry Vimto at the best of times
Had a super holiday thanks lardy came back refreshed relaxed and rejuvenated. But it all went nipples up yesterday - been to the doc today and have hospital tests tomorrow. Swings and roundabouts I suppose! Still, at least the weather is good. Have you any plans for the BH weekend to look forward too?
Question Author
Yes I'm off now until Tuesday - lots of retail therapy, meals out, trips with grandchildren - just good family stuff - bring it on!
Now that is what I call a decent length bank holiday. How old are the grandchildren - they must just be toddlers!
Question Author
9, 81/2 , 6, 5 , 4, 2 1/2 & 1 1/2 - not mine tho - they all belong to OH. But they're all fabulous and although I'm not their biological grandma I'm their granny lardy!
Strewth lardy - how can you carry all those ice cream cornets on a hot day?
You must have boundless energy if they all turn up together. Bet you have a good time though (:-))
Question Author
They do wear us out if they're all together, so we have to visit (or have them visit us) in shifts! So, enough about me, where did you go for your vacation, any piccies to share and what's all this about tests at the hospital?
I stayed with big sis for the whole time - she spoiled me rotten, hosted me a surprise party too. We had a great time for 2 pensioners! The older we get the more we regress - start giggling and laughing like your grandchildren - well it keeps us young at heart.
Had a nasty turn yesterday as I left work - so the tests are to see if there are any cardiac enzymes in my blood. Might have been a slight heart attack - but so long as I am still here it can't be too serious. Had it before!
Question Author
Good grief ttfn - must be all the partying.
The thing that upset me the most lardy was collapsing outside the back of the cop shop. Must have looked like an old wino to say the very least. Thank goodness there was no-one around to be seen. Talking of which - is boxy on hols do I recall? Haven't seen her this week. Or is she still trying to flog her bunting at the market stall?
Question Author
I think she must be away - as you say - she's not been on in a while. Either that or she's flogging her bunting off on the black market!
Just to clear up any misunderstanding - in case boxy does a search on her return - I thought of her in relation to the 'no one to be seen' ref ^ and NOT the 'old wino' ref. Phew! Well I am off to have a lie down now - no medicinal brandy tonight (:-(( bloomin' hospital tests! If I can't sleep I may return - you have been warned lardy! If ayg is on tonight pl give her my regards. ttfn
Question Author
Take care ttfn - good luck tomorrow. I'm sure it'll all be OK. x
Thanks Lardhelmet. I appreciate you looking for it. Peter Kay seems very nice. Must be Frank Skinner then.
