Does anyone know of a novel set around the Loe Bar in Cornwall and featuring the estate at the head of the Loe Pool, a local man called "Eddy" and I think a gypsy woman. I read it many years ago and would like to do so again but don't know its title. Many thanks in advance.

Are you thinking of Jamaica Inn or the Poldark novels?
Think this is a Daphne Du Maurier novel :-)
Warm wishes, Bea :-)

Thanks Rosetta - not Poldark novels - I know those well. Don't think it would be Jamaica Inn as this is set on Bodmin Moor and Loe Pool is Right down south of Cornwall. Thanks all the same.

Many thanks Beatrice - it might be du Maurier, I used to read her many years ago, but I'm not sure if it is her style.
I thought it might have been Malcolm Ross as many of his novels are set in this part of Cornwall.
I'm just an 87-year old woman with a hankering to read this particular book once more!
Thanks for your help
Rosamund Pilcher wrote a lot of books about this part of Cornwall, Also Winston Graham did other stories apart from Poldark series based in the South West .
Question Author
Thanks Bryher - I'll check Winston Graham - don't think it was Rosamund Pilcher's style as far as I can remember
This is the nearest I can get I'm afraid. These are the Loveday novels by Kate Tremayne. Senara is of gypsy origin

The only other line of enquiry is this link but you will need to scroll down the page until you get to Cornish Studies and Literary References

Thanks again Rosetta - I have tried your links but nothing seems to come up and certainly not The Loveday series. I really appreciate your help. I'll see if I can find it in any of Daphne du Maurier books. It is such a long while since I first read this book so I don't remember much of the scenario,, Just that for some reason I really enjoyed it.
It might be worth getting in touch with a bookshop in Porthleven (if there is one!) and asking if they know of the novel you are looking for. Very often book-shops in tourist areas make a feature of books about their locality.
Question Author
Good idea Kettledrum - shall be in Cornwall in July so I'll go into Porthleven and follow up your suggestion. Many thanks.
