I will when I get a list, its not all down to me on choices as someone is doing it for me. Interesting you think Minder is not classed as detective or crime. I never gave it a thought but I think you are right thank you. I suppose I just thought Denis Waterman - Sweeney and let it go. Thanks also for the suggestions I never watch tv so I am not so clued up on
recent programmes ..by recent I mean last 10 years lol I cant recall the last time I put my set on to watch anything. Any suggestions will be appreciated and passed forward to who's doing it.
I tell you what I love and most people think oh yuk I love ice cream in hot custard. In fact I might just have some tonight now ive thought of it lol.
Question Author
I would class Minder as Comedy Drama, there were always Criminals and there were 2 regular Policemen who were always assuming Terry McCann and Arthur Daley were up to no good but it was't in the Detective Fiction type Catagory it ws more in the Lovejoy, Boon catagory, Patrick Msalahide played one of the Policemen, he was also Ngaio Marsh's Roderick Alleyn in the BBC1 series after Simon Williams did the Pilot but not the series. Television is an important part of my Entertainment but as my Tastes are changeing and there is more Reality TV which I don't like apart from Strictly Come Dancing, I do like Dancing on Ice but the people I like have been eliminated so probably won't watch it anymore this year - still more time to watch Video's and DVDs I have and enjoy, I am hoping to watch 'The Seven Dials Mystery' this weekend I will see if the signature tune is suitable for you. Ice Cream and |Hot Custard is something I have never thought of but I suppose if you add Jelly, Cake and Hundreds and Thousands you have a Trifle - Don't forget the Chocolate Buttons he he, I like odd combinations but usually for sarnies; Egg Mayonaise and Cheese, Peanut Butter and Jam, Peanut Butter and Marmite, Philidelphia and Raspberry Jam and Phillidelphia and Bovril are all combinations I like, When I was at the Residential Home I was introduced to Cheese Salad and Marmite and Mayonaise, Yum Lovely.
Fraid im a peculiar eater I dont eat salad, veg fruit sauces spices nuts cheese yoghurts and im very peculiar about how its cooked i'd leave a dinner if there was something on my plate I didnt like. Ive always been like it. I love meat and fish and eats vast amounts of cakes puddings and sweet stuff. Still underweight though.
I watch videos and dvds but rarely bother with tv, the boys have their own in their rooms they watch loads. I dont like reality tv shows at all. I do like period drama though.
I dont think my telly actually works its been so long since I used it and I remember I kept having to thump it then.
I will agree with you on Minder I dont think its crime as such. I used to like the professionals but I dont recall the theme tune.
Question Author
I am a fussy eater, I don't like Shepherds Pie, Butter Bean Pie, Cottage Pie, Fish Pie, Pasta, Liver, Broth, Fruit Salad or Pavlova, my favourite Vegetable is becoming Parsnip overtaking Sprouts and my favourite Fruit is Banana. The Proffessionals is being repeated on ITV3 on Freeview perhaps if your sons watch it you can put your head round the door when it is starting and hear the Theme tune - If they have a digi box, Minder is also on ITV3, My mum and I were watching a Programme on Victorian Travel on BBC4 but the picture went and didn't come back until my mum realised my Carer knocked the wires when cleaning (He is clumsy). pity the programme was really interesting, I was Digital Channels more and more, whay a sad indictment on Brittish Terestrial Television.
I dont have sky or freeview or anything like that as I dont watch it enough to warrant it. My son has sky at his new house. I'll get him to see what the theme is mind you I can probably get it online if I look.
Hows your book coming along ? Any plot underway yet ?
I am still trying to get these murder mystery nights sorted, my son is going to run them but hes just set up his own dance company so hes busy with that at the minute.
Your carer doesnt sound the best person to dust if he knocks wires out. We have wires everywhere so he'd be no good here my youngest is always trailing wires everywhere to try something out. Trouble is he never unwires if it doesnt work so we end up with loads of wires going nowhere and doing nothing. Ive got wires in front of my wardrobe that mysteriously disappear into his room and ive no idea what they do.
Question Author
I'm still trying to work out my plot and Characters with the book, also I did start to write another book a while ago but the screen broke so I needed a new Computor so I lost everything, I remembered the beginning and have decided to try and finish that first but I think I have given myself a mammoth task as this one is a book of short stories and all with the same sleuths.

Your son's wires remind me of an Episode of 'Friends' where there nis a switch and the person who lives in the apartment with the switch doesn't know what it is for but it controls the Television belonging to Joey and Chandler, I would love a switch the point of which I didn't know. While I am writing this I am watching 'Seven Dials Mystery', Great Fun.
You should live here the previous owner was a DIY fanatic not a very good one either and we have to switch switches on that just switch on other switches lol
Stanley & Jacc both collect friends videos and dvd's in fact Stanley collects all friends stuff he even has their cookbook. Do you collect the videos too I like Chandler best who's your favourite. I am not a big fan of American tv but that does make me laugh. I haven't seen the last 2 series yet.
You certainly like a challenge I dont think I could do a whole book of short stories sounds really good though.
When you start you need to back it up on CD or a memory stick so you dont lose it again, thats awful when that happens.
Question Author
Although I liked Friends at the Time I haven't collected the Video's and don't watch the endlesss repeats, I prefer Frasier, I have 6 Videos all with 4 Episodes on and I have a Book with Episodes and record the repeats so have probably seen each episoide Dozens of times, I like some episodes more than others. Just because IU want to write a book of short stories with 2 sleuths it doesn't mean I will be successful, I have been trying to write books with various sleuths and never finish one, the furtyhest I have got is 1 and a half chapters I am afraid, that was with a Male Character I based on me, but I like the last 2 sets I told you about, I find it easier if I can picture someone playing them, thinking about it I didn't with the book I wrote 1 and as half Chapters of another of, my problems is deciding to come of the net and use the computor for writing, last time I wrote it was because the net was down so that spurred me on.
Well everything ever achieved started with a single thought so you are well on your way.
Not a Frasier fan ..my sons like it though.
You dont need you computer to write to begin with you can just speak it into a tape recorder or dictaphone. I use one alot for taking notes about things as I wander round doing family history its far easier than trying to read my writing and it fits in my pocket. Was only cheap under 30 from Argos and I wouldnt be without it. I play it back then when im ready to type it up or you can get someone else to.
Ive had my finger in a splint for 12 weeks so its been a big help.
Question Author
I was thinking only yesterday of buying a dictaphone, Years ago I used to write and My Mum copied them out for me, I love trhinking up names of Characters and creating profiles for them. I used a dictaphone once but I was using it and my Sister poked her head round the door which put me off so haven't used one since. What was your finger in plaster for?
I fell into bed and snapped the tendon. They have decided now its as good as its going to get its rigid and bent but better than it was as it was just hanging.
I have that problem too when using a dictaphone only mines the dogs barking lol They are handy bits of kits though. My theatre group has a very advanced one for making cds it picks up every rustle of clothes from a long way off. My own one is just a cheap one but it does the job and its really handy. You need a sign on your door saying recording in progress like at the studios lol

Question Author
I am glad your finger has improved a bit, I need a sign like that for when I am watching the Television I think, especially when I am watching a Murder Mystery, Where would I get a Dictaphone?
Mine was under 30 from Argos. If you can get someone to pick you up a catalogue or look at their online one then you could just write the order code down and get someone to get it for you. It does the job sufficiently for me and its only as big as a mobile phone if that. They do them cheaper and dearer so I just went for middle of the road. My son took it to Majorca when he was working out there and it recorded all his backing track vocals perfectly.
Question Author
Thanks for that I shall look them up, I looked up on Amazon yesterday and some were Dearer and some cheaper than the price you have said, I shall tell you how I get on, I am trying to find a Simon Brett Book . Have you heard of a book called Mrs Jeffries Weeds The Plot? The review is awful but it looks fun It is about a Victorian Inspector who solves Murders but mainly thanks to hos Housekeeper Mrs Jeffries, I might get it.
Cant say as I know that book but theres a lot of good second hand books available on the internet if you shop around. I never read reviews as they always like the ones I dont.
Maybe you could get on a site as a critic. Amazon are always looking for reviewers.
Let me know how it goes with your dictaphone. Mines an Olympus but I dont know the model number.
Theres a couple of book I saw that I wouldnt mind but I shall get them from library first to see if I like them as often the cover is nothing like the inside.
Do you like Elizabeth Ferrars im not a big fan but she has an awful lot of books around.
Question Author
I usually find books I like have bad reviews, I am nearly the end of 'Postern Of Fate' A Tommy asnd Tuppence book and everybody on the website say they don't like it but I have really enjoyed it, I have also read bad reviews on Amazon which say it is not a good book so I was thinking of putting a review on Amazon, as well as telling people on the AC website how much I have loved the book, when I have read all mthe AC books I will read the T&T books again but this time in order. I haven't read any Elizabeth Ferrers books but I intend to get round to it, I have a File in my Bookmarks specifically for Authors and she is in that. I will tell you how I get on with the Dictaphone.
Sorry im not a tommy and Tuppence fan at all. I didnt like any of theirs at all. One of Christies I really did like was Why Didnt They Ask Evans. Some of her characters I find a bit irritating like Ariadne Oliver I could cheerfully throttle her.
I think you'd be very good at reviews. Im in a quiz team tonight for a place I used to work for we dont do very well but its fun and its the one night out every month I get so I try and go if I can.
I actually got round to doing a couple of logic puzzles today
Odd thing is our corner shop has suddenly started selling them again. No idea why as everywhere stopped for months in fact WHSmiths stopped loads and went over to all Sudoko which I do not like at all.
Question Author
I love 'Why Didn't They Ask Evans' I have it on Video, The people who play Bobby Jones and Lady Derwent played Tommy and Tuppence, I also love Ariadne Oliver, I was going to write a review on 'Postern Of Fate' which I finished today but got side-tracked with buying CDs, I love the idea of Pub Quizzes but the quizzes always start too late and The Taxi came to take me back to the Residential Home for me to enter, I had this idea for a book where the main Character gets invited out for a night and there is a quiz team made up of Cheese fans and the team would be called 'The Cheese Board' Anyway Good Luck and have fun.
We actually won for once. I think a quiz team called the cheese board is a good idea.
I know Ariadne Oliver is very popular she's just too far fetched for me i'm afraid. Its why I dont like Murder she Wrote the character is just not credible to me
and my son will create like anything if he sees that as he loves that programme lol.
What cd's did you get.
Question Author
Your son has good taste, It is the far-fetchedness of Murder She Wrote that I like, same with Ariadne Oliver and Tommy and Tuppence, I love escapeisme, Alot of TV and Literary Detectives wouldn't be created ifg there was just realism in Drama.

The CDs I bought were Superbi by Beautiful South, All The Lost Souls by James Blunt and Nail File by Jimmy Naill, I could have bought more but maybe next time, someone in the Pub leant me a few CDs and one was Fairport Convention and nowe I am a fan, I love discovering new interests Musically and Literary-wise.
