I must agree with you, a fine artist like Turner must be spinning in his grave at the thought of the rubbish that is called art and awarded a prize in his name.

Dear Mr/ Mrs/ Miss/ Ms Snagged,

As legal counsel for Gilbert & George, artists and artistes, I must ask you to desist from pretending to have invented new forms of artistic expression which my clients have been foisting on a gullible public for a considerable number of years. Their Naked Sh1t Pictures dates from 1995 and more recently they have been publishing works containg a full range of body fluids. They even live in Spitalfields!

yours faithfully

Messrs Welsh, Robb, Cheetham & Steele
Fair comment dundurn... how about this then?

I don't clean or make my bed... cover it in loadsa sh!te and exhibit that as 'art'?

Dammit... Emin has beaten me to it again...
I don't really mind the "artists" who produce all this pretentious cr4p - if they can find a rich mug to pay for it, good luck to them. But I do object to the fArts Council spending our money on grants for them, and I really, really object to so-called Arts critics/ experts telling me how if I don't get/ appreciate it that it's my fault. I went to a sculpture gallery just outside Huddersfield earlier this year and they had a series of exhibits that were massive, detailed, clever and original as well as being intriguing and beautiful - in short they were art, and they communicated. Two mannequins and a supermarket checkout is no more art that was Ms Emin's unmade bed.
