Has anyonw read these books? They are set in Walsall and Pelsall in the early 1900s ..... read them a long time ago and wondered if anyone can suggest other authors who have set their stories in Walsall and the Black Country in similar times?

The Edith Cotterill books are about a Black Country nurse just after the war, very funny and warming.
Norma Washbrook - The Flawed Inheritance, set in Walsall from 1954
From Riches to Rags, Geoff Hill

Set in Brierley Hill from the 1930s, an autobiography, not a novel

Thanks Ethel .... the font of all knowledge as always ... very grateful ... don't suppose you can answer my other 2 questions can you? Who wrote books about Redditch needle makers and which book is set in The Delves, Walsall in the early to mid 1900s?
Is the Redditch one 'Resurrection Men' by Sara Fraser? It's a mystery set in 1826.

The Delves, Walsall could be an autobiography by Jo Mary Stafford, called Light in the Dust.

If these aren't the ones, I'll keep thinking

The Delves one is correct - but not sure if that's the Redditch one - seems a little too early..... thanx
