Many Many thanks it has been bugging me, when a group of us were talking about books we read at sea and passed among the engine room not one of us knew anything about this author
so again many thanks ansd I will now pass the link around

I read all his books when I was in the army, most of whjat he wrote I took with a larg pinch of salt.
Aparently all the main characters Porta, Tiny, Old man, Legionare etc are based on his actual comerads
