I am counting down the days until I queue at midnight for the seventh, and allegedly final, Harry Potter book! Is anyone else as ludicrously excited as me?!
I just can't wait. So many possibilities. I won't sleep that weekend!

I'm probably not as excited as you but I am looking forward to it! I've recently re-read all the first six books so I am up to speed, I'll probably read the Half Blood Prince again in the week before the last book is released. I know that when I get my hands on the book that all I'll be doing is reading it. I daren't listen to the radio or turn the TV on in case the plot is given away!
That is my worry! I will get my copy on the morning of July 21st, but I bet that all the TV coverage will give the game away. On Richard & Judy last week Judy did say that J K Rowling has assured them that Harry wouldn't die on the last book. Even Daniel Radcliffe has said he doesn't know if his character will be killed off or not.
I have just reread the Half Blood Prince, I think that Dumbledore has died because he can be of more help to Harry.

Only 3 weeks to go!

Ah, it's nice to find likeminded (i.e. odd!) people :)

I will have to pick up my copy of HBP, good idea.
carolegif, interesting theory: I cried when Dumbledore died, so he'd bette rhave been taken for a reason!
This book will be emotional turmoil!

Are people looking forward to the new film, too? I still feel Michael Gambon needs to be less aggressive as Dumbledore: Richard Harris was perfect casting, so calm and wise in the role!

Long live Lily`s soul!
Well, i won't be queueing for it, because I need my sleep, but I am looking forward to Mr A buying me a copy on his way home from work on publication day, like he did the last time. Have just re-read HBP to get me in the mood, and have several conversations a month with small niece (11) about the possible plots and outcomes in the final book. We can't wait, as we are two of the fastest readers we know, and intend to race through it, trying to beat each other to the end, like we did last time - i won by a short nose......she won in the Order of the Phoenix race and she won't get away with it again.....
Oh yes, yes, YES!!!

I think Dumbledore has been taken for a reason ....... and where is Snape going in all this? Oh, I can't wait to batten down the hatches, take the phone off the hook, switch the computer off (sorry AB) - and get stuck in.
I'll be outside my local bookshop ready and waiting at misnight. I won't even mind that I can't get it discounted as it would take longer to get hold of if I have to travel to a WHS branch.

It is my 50th birthday on 21 July and it is the best present I could get. I was so thrilled when I heard about the date of publication ! No sleep for me that weekend.

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I will, though I do wish I had never read them so that I still had all the enjoyment to come.
I feel so sorry for all those people who think the books are for kids and have never given them a try. They are missing so much!!!
I wont be waiting for it, I think I have seen one of the films, not sure which one though!! and have heard the books mentioned in passing somewhere I believe.

I saw a Ford Anglia in one clip, that was really exciting, I used to drive them!! mine never flew though!!!!!!

The old times, eh....................
hi all,
I am a true HP fan too. I am soooo excited about this new book, BUT, my parents have booked me a holiday in Malta and I will be there on the 21 of July, can anyone come up with nay ideas how I can get hold of a copy on the said date? I have asked this question in travel and have had a couple of answers but have both led to dead ends. Thanks for your help in advance as I know you must be worried for me too. ;-)

Kim A, he sounds like he knows the way to your heart! Get yor head down and read like the clappers (not that I am advocating competition between adults and kids...!)

naomi24-Is Snape a misjudged goody, or bad through and through? I planned a similar weekend-drinks, snacks, locked door, phone off...But my friend went and organised her birthday do for the Saturday night. If I get a headstart though by getting the book at midnight, I might allow myself a couple of hours out!
The amount of people that laugh when I tell them how excited I am is just sad-they really don't know what they're missing do they?! JKR's ability to weave such intricate stories accessible by adults and kids alike is just truly magical (yuk, I sound like a blurb!)

A very happy birthday to you jessiedog! Yes, I couldn't imagine a better present-let's hope for a happy ending too! And yes, I feel sad also that it's coming to an end!

dove-what the heck were your parents thinking?! Didn't they KNOW?! Will it come out in Malta at the same date, or later? Not sure how to help there, hope you find a way though. You could get a friend to get your copy and courier it next day to Malta-would probably use up your spending money though!

leelapops, I am glad that you can see the disasterous situation I find myself in.
I am a 39 year old woman having a hissy fit cos I cant find a bookshop in Malta that is selling HP. I have googled every concievable way to no avail.
I have already asked a mate of mine to send it out for next day delivery and she agreed to this whilst laughing her ass off, some people really just dont understand, such a shame.
Im no good at pasting links but if you google 'beyond hogwarts' its an amazing site that stretches your imagination even more...let me know what you think.

Flipping heck dove, looks like I'll be on all night! Brilliant, I'll take a good browse! I haven't had chance to think about it too deeply yet, I've had a really busy 3 months, but now I have some free time, I am going to get stuck in!
What a predicament-get your mate to buy a copy for herslef and read, then she'll know why you want some quality reading for the beach!

Ratter, You've rather proven my point about people who haven't read the books. Your loss - but from what you've said, obviously you don't know it.

Leela, at any other time it would be lovely to be going to a birthday party. I really can understand your excitement - my life's ambition for some time now has been to read the end of the story! It's been a long time coming, but I know it will be worth ithe wait.

Dove: I've tried googling for you too, but with no success. I hope you find it in Malta - I would imagine the Maltese are just as eager to get their hands on it as us.
hi naomi, thanks for looking for me but I think I will have to rely on my friend, God I hope she doesnt let me down.
Will keep you both posted as to how I get on, but its not looking good.
Do take a look at Beyond Hogwarts Naomi, you wont believe how much youve missed in the books, all the readers comments are the best x
Thanks Dove. I just had a quick look - incredible - and lots of ideas I hadn't thought of. Oh I can't wait!!
I really cannot wait, although I am a little sad that this is the last. I think Snape is going to be a good guy and its all a plot concocted between him and Dumbledore ( I dont think he is dead either). He couldnt let Malfoy kill him so he has cast another spell that has made him look dead somehow. I refuse to believe that after 6 books of thinking Snape is all evils he isnt going to save the day and possibly die at the very end.
Goodsoul - I'm not the only one!
That's just what I reckon and I asked my son-in-law if he'd put a bet on for me at the local bookies and he looked at me gone out! 5 on that and we'll clean up!
When the last book came out my daughter and I shared it and every time she put it down I picked it up. We had two different bookmarks in it and we agreed we wouldn't talk about it till we'd both completely finished - thank goodness my arthritis keeps me awake at night.
Btw, am I the oldest at 58? Why should the kids have all the best books?
I just got round to reading the h b prince, and I do keep hoping that Dumb isn't really dead, but is that just in a hope for a truly happy ending? and will JK give it to us or we will have one of these modern happy endings where u just think...great...now i wanna kill meself just like listening to david gray
I am the oldest 60 at last birthday! I think that Snape is a good guy and has disappeared for a reason. I think Neville will play a part in the battle Harry has with Voldemort, may even save him. JK Rowling has said that several popular characters die in the last book, but I don't think Harry will be one of them. "If one dies the other will live". I think she will let good triumph over evil.
