How exactly was the novel Rebecca used during WWII as a code book. I have heard and read some passing references to it but cant find a decent explanation. Can anyone help?

I'm not sure that it was used as a code book in WWII.
I believe that it is purely fiction contained in the novel The Key To Rebecca written by Ken Follett.
